I dont know what the criteria is exactly but I think they look for couples in Phillippines or Russia or Colombia because so many K1 Visa come from there..the show is accurate in selecting these pairs if we consider the numbers that come from those countries. Then imagine Carribean and Isreal is diversity and personalities.

The process to select couples involves several months, interviews, calls and alot of people are involved so not random at all.

I agree Transborderwife. I would really like to see a UK or Canadian partner featured.

The only reason as to why, I think they may not, is that it's commonly considered that the culture shock is not nearly as much as in other cultures which I still think there are quite a few differences! It also seems to be far more common to have couples from US and UK/Canada probably because of all the strong business ties between the three.

One day I hope they will though :)

The show is great, as long as you keep in mind that it's largely staged/scripted.

My biggest problem with the show is the idea that they all seem to have and repeat throughout the show that the foreign fiancées come to the US to decide if they want to get married to the USC. It's like a 90 day dating period (according to them). I was under the impression that when filing for a fiancé visa, the couple have already decided to get married, and the visa allows them to do it in the US. That is part of the requirements, no?

The show amplifies the 90 day requirement to create drama and uncertainty but they do not necesarily hide the fact that they have met before or slept together before. And it is not scripted or actually staged, there are other tricks and how the filming occurs manipulates situations or pushes into a direction but in the end is what that person or couple provides them. I could complain and already seen inaccurate comments and suppositions that are not true but aware that its for entertainment and the view will have their own biases or thoughts regardless of whats true. Yet almost all tv is like that.

Well last season, the guy that lives with his father admitted that the show (producers?) put green dye into the pool to make it seem dirty. That's staged to me.

The virgin said that his father isn't really a full blown racist like they made it seem.

So far wrong assumptions, stay tuned to me on VJ and will share why wrong assumption, but I cannot share yet. But I can tell you that reality shows in general film for many hours over many days and some days are very long and you hear the person speaking and often their being asked tons of questions then in editing it comes out - out of context. Yet if you answered that blacks and whites should not marry you still said that. I will probably be not happy about how things are expressed, already heard some things that are not true but I did say it but it might have been part of 30 questions within 3 hours where it was not even in my thoughts. Again there are tricks they use but not scripted or staged.
