Hi,

I am coming USA in December and will spend three months there, I will get Social Security Number, Green Card and Driving License. Then i have to move back to Pakistan for like 4 months. Then i will Comeback again for a month. Can i maintain Green card in this way like spend a month is USA and four to five months outside.( I can wait for Naturalization). In this way can i face any problem at POE later. I have a well establish business here and i need some time to wind it up. Meanwhile my wife and son USC stay in USA as wife completing her education. I will buy a house on our joint name, buy car on our joint name, will maintain driving license, library card and file taxes.

Basically i want to keep Green card by entering every 5 month. and Gradually i will shift to USA. What do u guys think. Thank you so much for your time and help.

You can do it for a couple years, but eventually they will flag you, bring you to secondary, and you will have to convince them that you really intend to permanently reside in the US. You may or may not get a hearing out of that.

Doing this one or twice should be fine, many new greencard holders have businesses and issues to get settled back home before moving permanently,

Long term, no, that will not be possible. The Greencard is more accurately called Legal Permanent Resident card, and you are meant to spend more time inside the USA than outside. The longer you spend outside, the more chances you will have trouble at POE. You could try for a re-entry permit, but they will wonder why you didn't just wait with getting the greencard.

Given the extra scrutiny that is given to people from your country don't try to push things to the limit. It's possible that you could end up with a lot more headaches. Wrap up your life there and settle in the US. That is the purpose of the Green Card.

Of course you will file taxes on your worldwide income. That is one of the honors of being a resident alien or citizen. :crying::crying:

I wouldn't bother with a library card unless you actually plan to use the local library. It isn't a significant tie to the US. Focus on what is normal, everyday life and you ought to be OK.

You can do what you want to do on a Visitor Visa.

As others said you can do it for some time like two or three years. if you want to stay in Pakistan for longer time then apply for re entry permit after such visits for a year or two. re entry permit is valid for two years. by doing so you can remain outside US up to 3/4 years.
