Hi guys,

i was wandering. I am currently living in the U.S and nearing the final stages of my Adjustment of Status. I Went for my biometrics 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. when i got home i threw my clothes in the washing machine and it had my passport in my shorts!! i am worried now that this will affect the final stages of my Adjustment of status. My passport is still intact and the I.D page is still readable, but you can tell that it was once water damaged. my K1 visa is looking a little worse for wear. can someone give me some advice on what i should do? I'm worried that if i have to interview for my green card i will need a new passport.

Not sure if this helps since each country has different passport materials, but my US passport fell into a large body of water with my Dutch permit inside. I've been able to go through security and have my passport scanned without any issues. It's gone through international security at airports 7 times so far.

Why do not you try with Australian consulate for a replacement for the damaged pp just to be on the safer side.

This is conjecture at best, but I think the USA passports have some kind of "chip" inside of them.,,.,.or something electronic that lets it be scanned.

do not know about your passport, but if it has anything electronic.,.,I would seek some kind of replacement. Won't need it for AOS,.,.,..,but you will eventually.

Good Luck.

I did not have an interview for my AoS. But I don't think it would be a problem because you already included copies for your passport biographical page and the visa as well. Just bring it in and tell the IO that you accidentally washed your passport.

Just a little note. My cat urinated my passport - don't ask me how he did it-. I sent it to the Indonesia consulate in Houston, Texas, with the smell that OMG, because it was expired. They processed it without a complain and sent it back to me about a week later. :D
