Hello:

My fiance had his K1 visa interview in Dakar. In the interview, the CO asked him how we communicate, and he replied "in English." The CO appeared incredulous, and switched from French to English and asked "Do you speak English?" He replied (in English) "yes, I speak English." The CO then continued the interview in French. My fiance was expecting the interview to be conducted in English, so the utilization of French was surprising. Additionally, our documented chats show we speak English to each other, with a little bit of French. What is wrong with this CO? If he was so convinced my fiance did not speak English, why did he not ask him more questions in English to alleviate his concerns? My fiance would have answered in English, no problem.

At the conclusion of the interview, my fiance received the 221g stating that they regret they cannot issue him a visa now add his case requires further administrative processing, and that the embassy will contact him. No additional documentation was requested.

Is this fairly routine for African countries? Does AP mean that his case is being returned to USCIS, or would they have told him this? I'm so upset.

Also, CO hardly asked any questions about us, other than how we met. He did ask my fiance if Alabama was a big state..... um,ok...
