I met my now wife in May of 2014 through eHarmony. We first met in person when I flew to Thailand in October 2014. In our I129f application I included a timeline summary and detailed documentation of our initial meeting on eHarmony, our subsequent communication via Skype, Line and email, and our meetings in person in Thailand. I think a summary timeline listing key milestones in your relationship that tells your complete relationship history is the way to go. I believe that if you make their jobs easy by providing good, detailed documentation of your relationship, your interview will be much easier. We "front loaded" our I129f, read everything we could find on VJ, paid attention to details and sailed easily through the process

Having said that, you definitely don't want to provide extraneous and irrelevant documentation. A "quit smoking" web site is clearly not an IMB, and you have met in person several times. As others have already pointed out, there is no need to include any IMB info. I think it only leads to confusion.

You should also be very careful and precise with your wording. Your original post confused many people (including me) by stating "because we still haven't meet in person yet" Making statements like that in your application or supporting documents will at best cause confusion and at worst cause a denial.

-Bill-

ps. When Boiler asked if you have "given up", I'm pretty sure he meant "Have you given up smoking?". Once again, pay attention to details.

Look in the IMBRA subforum (under this K-1 forum) for recent problems that VJ members have experienced when saying that they met "on-line." RapidVisa is erring on the side of caution, and justifiably so, in urging the inclusion of a "we are not an IMB website" statement.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

TBoneTX is right. Just because you mark the box NO for IMB, does not mean they will not send an RFE saying that it was. It seems pretty obvious to all of us that it's not an IMB, however, USCIS has been sending a lot of RFE's for online sites this year, regardless of their nature. Erring on the side of caution is a good idea. I would send proof with the I-129f, then you won't have to worry about an RFE.

Either way you are doing this via IMB or just yourself it would be a matter of proving bonafide relationship in front of interview. If I were you I wouldn't even pay IMB and file everything myself. Since I see from your timeline, you are engaged. She came here many times and returned back to home. I'd say you are golden, file yourself keep $375 to yourself and do it yourself. No need to pay 3rd party and let them meddle with your own business. You could meet on some website that is not a big deal. It is how you know each other now and love each other. That is all matters! Your fiancé will have to prove on the interview date, how she knows you , what you have done together until now, how many times you have met. If no lies then you are golden and will get approved faster than speed of lighting. Cheers :)

Nothing I say should in any way be construed as a breach of VJ TOS. http://www.visajourn...m/content/terms

All my comments regarding any visa's or routes to obtaining one are subject to their individual terms and conditions, the full extent of which can not possibly be fully detailed in any reply on a forum such as this.

In particular but not limited to condone or instruct, either directly or indirectly, how to commit fraudulent or illegal immigration activities in any way, shape, manner or method.

If you read it that way please re read what I wrote, not what you think I wrote. Or what somebody could misconstrue that I wrote.

Hello Crazyworld - We just went through this same thing about a couple weeks ago. Our I-129f stated how we met in person the last time, but since we had been together for 8 years, I thought it wasn't worth too much of a mention as to where and how. They did think otherwise and were very concerned whether it was an IMB or not. So, we sent back a response with exactly where and how we met, along with the terms of service (TOS) from the website, and our NOA2 came through only several days later. I made sure to include the whole 16 or so pages of the terms of service and highlighted where it says the website is not responsible for any communications or interactions between people who meet on the site and wish to make contact outside of it.

Best of luck (that never hurts to have on your side) ! ...

The past few months anyone saying they met online has had to prove the site isn't imb website. Didn't used to be that way even though as you underline it should have been, because clearly it says you must show a site is not a imb.....RapidVisa processes paperwork for thousands of people every year and understand the changes at USCIS so are simply looking out for you to prevent a RFE.

RapdVisa's client base is mainly in areas where this is an issue.

Rapidvisa is not an IMB they process paperwork for people. They asked him to prove that the website they did meet on is not an IMB, because in the instructions it says if you met online you must prove the site isn't imb. Rapidvisa is trying to prevent him from getting a RFE. You're right meeting online is not a big deal but the government requires you to prove it's not a marriage broker plain and simple and that's what Rapidvisa is asking him to do. It doesn't matter how much you love each other if you don't follow the rules and policies the government asks of you.....

Some interesting information was brought to my attention yesterday.

In U.S. Citizen Part 2 under 2.4 Relationship: If you met through an online website, you must submit a copy of the signed written consent form that the International Marriage Broker obtained from the alien authorizing the release of her/his personal contact information to you, or documentation to establish that the website is not an International Marriage Broker.

We met on a quit smoking web site and need to get this documentation from the administrator. We also went to another quit smoking web site and Rapid Visa says we should get the same from them too because we still haven't meet in person yet. I had no idea we needed this and it would of delayed our K1 visa for sure.

Hope this could be helpful to someone.

The quit smoking websites were international marriage brokers? I highly doubt it.

The ONLY websites the rule is referring to is international marriage brokers......not anything else. Not dating sites (such as international cupid for example), not facebook, not game sites, not gardening sites, not quit smoking sites, etc etc etc etc etc etc

Google it up and you can learn what an international marriage broker is, to clear up any confusion.

PS - my husband and I met on facebook :)

I agree with Shauneg in regards to Rapid Visa....

You have entrusted Rapid Visa with the task of helping you file all the necessary paperwork needed to successfully get your fiance into the US in hopes of facing no setbacks ... So since you have spent money and invested in them, they're just doing their job and making sure you get the service and peace of mind that you paid for and TRUST them, they know what they're doing. They have dealt with many cases like yours. The last thing you would want or anyone for that matter is a RFE or worse a denial. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

All the best best

I thing it's important for everyone to realize the part he is quoting is taken from Rapidvisa and the steps to fill out the information on their site. It's not on the I129F or in the instructions. Again, as I said earlier RapidVisa is taking precautions so as the website cannot be questioned later.....by USCIS thus preventing a RFE.

People who have been on here awhile have seen the uptick in USCIS asking for proof that certain sites are not IMB so RapidVisa has modified the information they intake to avoid any RFEs no matter the site.....

No one is saying the site a imb. Rapidvisa requires everyone to show proof that a site isn't an IMB so when they send off the paperwork USCIS will already have proof it isn't....no matter the website. It's a fail safe as you trust RapidVisa to process all pertinent and necessary paperwork for you.
