I-864 Joint Sponsor Evidence of Income (London)

Hi all!

I'm right now in the middle of processing my wife's immigrant visa with the DCF service at the US Embassy in London. She has her medical booked next week, and I'm planning ahead to the Affidavit of Support (I-864) required for her interview.

My brother has kindly agreed to act as a joint sponsor (since all of my current income is earned in Europe), but I have a question about submitting evidence of income for him. He is currently employed as a teacher in the USA and earns a salary well above the threshold. However, his 2014 taxes do not reflect this income level, since for half of that tax year he was still completing his MA. And since the 2015 tax year isn't completed yet, he has no tax return for that year.

My plan is for him to provide his current contract of employment stating his salary, as well as recent payslips to show ongoing employement. And this will hopefully provide evidence of his current income.

In your experience, will they accept this as evidence at the interview? Or do they base their decision completely on previous tax returns?

Thanks in advance for your time!

David
