I went onto the site, but it says I have to provide my wife's SS# in order to proceed... how did you complete the application without the SS#?

Also, my wife does go to UH as well, but she's tried twice to change status to get Texas residency after filing for AOS and neither time has it been successful. The registrar said that the rule is that you have to live in Texas for 12 months *after* filing for AOS, and not just 12 months (she's been here for almost three years now, but only filed for AOS in October...)

Oh sorry I wasn't aware that your wife didn't have the SSN...I was on student visa before I filed AOS and got my SSN couple years ago from my first job.

That is odd. I filed AOS last Nov so I definitely have not lived in Texas for 12 months AFTER filing AOS. I think I provided my apartment lease, TX drivers license, paystubs for the 12 months prior, marriage license to my husband. I can't remember if I included my husband's paystubs too, but that would also help if your wife has no job/income. I needed to fill out a residency questionnaire which asked about my current status and whether I'm independent/dependent on my tax return, etc.

I've been watching the official processing time updates as well, but it seems like they are about 2.5 months behind on updating their information since at least March... We might get the May 30th info around July 20th or so if the trend continues...

October 7, 2015: Sent AOS Pack
October 15, 2015: NOA1
October 29, 2015: RFE (due to wanting more info regarding tax returns)
November 5, 2015: Biometrics taken
November 17, 2015: RFE Response Received by USCIS
November 23, 2015: Filed for Expedite EAD/AP
December 2, 2016: Approved EAD/AP
December 8, 2015: Received EAD/AP
Sept 26, 2016: USCIS received renewal for EAD/AP

Oct 19, 2016: Interview scheduled for Nov 22, 2016

Nov 22, 2016: Interview - went well but RFE for an updated medical I-693

Dec 1, 2016: USCIS received the new medical I-693

Hi guys,

Houston filler from July 2016 here. Just a couple of questions so we can plan accordingly.

1) The Sugar Land ASC seems to allow walk-in biometric. Anyone with a different recent experience?

2) Once I get the EAD, I will get SSN that will have restriction "DHS authorization only" on it. Is there any problem with using it to obtain Texas driver license, learner permit or ID?

i485-i130-i765-i131 packages for spouse/child

7/18: Mailed packages to Chicago lockbox

7/19: Received by USCIS

7/26: Received 8 text/email NOAs

7/27: Checks cashed
7/30: Received 8 hard copy NOAs

8/6: Bio letter received

8/8: Bio done

9/10: Case updated that RFIE was mailed regarding i485

9/17: Received RFIE (needs a cosponsor)

9/23: Mailed back RFIE

9/27: Case update: RFIE received by USCIS and case resumed

10/3: Created SR for my EAD as it's been 75 days.

10/14: Contacted congressman office to inquiry/expedite

10/19: EAD card ordered, AP approved

11/1: EAD/AP was mailed

11/3: EAD/AP received
