I got the congressman office liaison to contact USCIS to check on my case and the reply was that my case is waiting to be scheduled for interview by the local office.

Do you guys now time frame for approve without interview? how long it usually takes for Houston? i know if there is interview it can take more than 12 months but what about approval without interview.

I have sent an email to Houston office to ask about why many cases are outside of the currently time frame, hope they will look into this for everyone from May and June.

How long have you filed adjustment of status? I recently filled for my wife On Febuary2017. Just currious how long is the waiting time for Houston filler..

Around 12-13 months so you are looking at Feb-Mar 2018 for interview. I'm a July 2016 filer and have not received anything yet.

Will start the renewal  form's for EAD card, and send it out in August.

I received my interview notice exactly 365 days after signing the paper work for submission. Interview is tomorrow.

Interview today. Arrived super early and checked in. They took my appointment notice then told us they are using a new system for check ins but to take a seat. Interview was scheduled for 845 and was seen at 10. Questions were relatively straightforward. He told us the I-130 was approved but he needed to review the case and we would find out in due course. No idea why and I'm feeling kind of disappointed not to have the full approval. Oh well

Some other points that I'm now thinking about 

 

1) he asked me to confirm my latest entry as per my application. Since my application I had left the US then came back in Feb this year so presented him with a new I-94

2) he enquired several times about my military training that I received at university (Royal Air Force); a) was it voluntary or as part of national service  - voluntary b) did I receive fire Arms training - yes c) what did you do -flew military planes. 

3) asked for further evidence to support my application. Attorney gave him copies of the same which he kept  I offered originals but he quickly looked at them and gave them back. 

4) gave him a new medical which he checked and said it was fine.

Congrats, bet that is a big relief of not having to wait anymore.

 

Can you tell us about the Houston USCIS office, is it very busy?   They are so far behind processing, we will be lucky to get interview by Christmas.

Needless to say, Im already so nervous about interview. Even with 5 years together, lots of things under both our names, and tons of evidence.

Good day...the office building itself is quite large. The waiting room was not busy at all; maybe less than 10 percent occupied when we were there. One side is reserved for folks waiting on interviews and a smaller area to wait on info pass appointments. Around the latter were 14 booths of which maybe 3 or 4 were occupied answering info pass.

 

The official interviewing us was very nice, I've no complaints about how the questions were being asked. My wife (USC) was very nervous and fluffed some of her answers however I was surprised that I was not nervous at all during the interview but I was feeling low afterwards when he didn't approve right away. 

 

I wouldn't worry (easy for me to say that now)...and I don't think you will have to wait until Christmas but certainly close your year anniversary.
