I'm 2nd year bachelor vietnamese student living in Sweden with a permanent residence permit. My family also lives here, my mother, step father and sister. I want to take a trip to the us during the school break, for sightseeing and vacation. Some information about me and my application:

-I want to go for 3 weeks bc i need to get back for school
-All the ties i have is in Sweden, bank accounts, family, school, student help...
-My mother owns an apartment here in sweden and she's also the one paying for my trip, as i stated in the application
-I'm a second year student with with student help as income.
-I have a friend in the east coast and she said it would help if she writes me an invitation and send me proof that she goes to college in the states.

Would the invitation work against me or should I not mention my friend at all?
What are the chances of me getting a visa in sweden?
Also, i'm worried that my documents won't even get looked at.

I'd love to hear your opinion and advice if you ever been in the same situation or has ever apply for a visa in sweden or the nordic countries. Thank you very much!

Invitations irrelevant, mean next to nothing. Ties to the US not helpful. Some documents would be reviewed.. CO needs some data to arrive at a decision.

No one here can give you anything other than a 50-50 chance of approval. Submit all docs you mentioned, and apply.

Thanks for your reply :) Do you mind telling me a bit more about your b2 visa process?

Sure! I'm a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, currently finishing my MA in Austria.

I applied for a B2 last August. The interview was super short, he only asked me a few basic questions. He asked where I wanted to go, for how long, where I'm gonna stay (I said with a friend), where does that friend live, who's gonna pay for my trip (myself), how (I said I won a scholarship and he commented that it's a great way to use it). I think he also asked me about my family in Bosnia - about what they do for living, etc. He also asked me about school, so I gave him my status confirmation and a transcript of records I got from an exchange I did in Croatia. He just asked why is that transcript in English (and not Croatian) and just added himself - oh, so you can take it to Austria.

I think that's pretty much it. It was all nice and pleasant. Hopefully, my K1 interview will be the same. ^_^

Switzerland , Sweden. Yep.

:rofl: That mix up never gets old. I am pretty sure 95% of Americans still think it´s the same thing.

I just got my visa issued yesterday in stockholm, multiple entry within one year! I got there very early so i was the first in line. When i got inside, they gave me a number and when it's my turn, I came up to this window and handed in all the my documents. Then i was told to sit down again and wait until my name is called. WHen it was my turn, the lady just took my finger print, and asked me the purpose of my trip and some very basic questions. She was typing a lot and looked through all of my papers very quickly. And that's it, 2 minutes and she said my visa is approved! Thanks for the replies and good luck to everyone here!
