Wife in US on H1; can i make a return trip on B1/B2?

Hi All

I'm a new-bee and already loving this great forum!

I have question about what visa should I travel to US on. I live in Sydney Australia and my wife has moved to US on H1 visa. I already have B1/B2 multiple-entry visa valid for a few more years.

I dont intend to move to US anytime soon (as my job is here in Syd). However I'm hoping to visit my wife for about 6-8 weeks at the end of this year.

My question is: will making a return trip on B1/B2 visa be OK? If the officer asks the reason for my visit, and if I mention my wife (who is on H1) will it be the problem? Is there any advantage to apply for H4?

H4 is more certain but B should be OK.
