I feel bad for you, CBP does have the number for the Montreal consulate and could have phoned them to inquire further. When I crossed into the US the CBP officer who was handling my paperwork had a concern and called them to straighten things out.

In case anyone else is curious, the Montreal Consulate has been sending out modified packets (I don't know what the modification is) and that was what the CBP officer in my case was concerned about. He was confused, as to him some information was missing.

Which border/Airport did you cross at?

Tyson I too am still a little confused but as long as you enter before your visa expires, from what I can gather you will be fine,

It certainly isn't helpful when people just tell you too read the thread, clearly you read it.

All the best

Yeah. I agree. Thanks. There have to be a lot of people that received 221gs that take 1-2 months or longerrr to complete, or people under certain circumstances that just cant quickly come right after approval and have their noa2 valid date expired but they go thru POE just fine. Everyone should know their visa is valid 6 months from medical, people at CPB def should know this. It's just very bad luck for Heatheve. :(

It is so easy to surpass the 4 month valid period for the noa2 that are beyond one's control. Just feel bad for Heatheve.

I was told I could not enter on a K1 visa at Toronto Pearson Airport this evening. The officer said because my petition expired on 08/22/2015, my visa is now "invalid" regardless of what my visa expiration date states (which is 02/04/2016). He said he spoke to his supervisor and chief and they agreed. His colleague standing beside him also agreed that because my petition expired, my K1 visa is no longer valid. As you could imagine, I was in complete shock and devastated. When I asked to speak to a manager, the officer kept brushing me off and told me to leave and inform my airline that I would no longer be on the flight. As I kept trying to ask, he began asking the next person in the waiting area to come forward so he could deal with their case. I was scared to raise my voice or start a fight because I didn't want him to cross off my visa and render it invalid (it was something I noticed he did to the people ahead of me).

He even had the nerve to make jokes and laugh at me at the end when he asked about our wedding plans (we scheduled it for this Friday) and said I should have sponsored my fiance here instead. Ridiculous.

Also I had my interview at the consulate in Montreal on 08/12/2015 and received my passport soonafter with my K1 visa inside. The officer did not touch my visa but he did open the sealed envelope and went through the documents. He returned it back to me unsealed. I feel like this will be a major problem now.

His advice was to contact the consulate and get a letter stating I'm still admissible to enter as a K1. I'm planning on giving a call to the Montreal consulate (the consulate that issued my visa) and explaining the situation. However I do live in Toronto so I may give that consulate a call as well (not sure if that will help matters though). I'm at a loss of what to do. The officer was rude, unprofessional, and power tripping over not only me, but the others that were ahead me in secondary (who were also refused entry on their respective visas). The officer's last name was along the lines of "Dagdagan".

If anyone has gone through anything similar, please share your experience. I don't believe I should have been denied and my visa is still valid. However my sealed envelope is of course no longer sealed. Advice?

I would think you should call the embassy, since they are who provided with you the package.

If The officer says that it has to be with the USCIS, you can probably get some one to talk to using the following info:

http://www.uscis.gov/about-us/contact-us/national-customer-service-center

I hope that leads you somewhere.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Im re-reading and you said you were denied at Toronto Airport... Thats not even the POE. That just makes it more strange. I might be confused but why would they open your packet while you're still in Canada? Should open it when you land in California.

All this is so unbelievable...to go through what we all have to have it continue on like this...I would use a different POE and involve all political people as needed. This won't fix your wedding timeline by any means and you will be with your loved one eventually but is such a horribly unnecessary glitch.

Only the consulate can fix this at this point in time :( Sending you (((hugs))))

Because they have US customs at the airport here, for less delays.

Hmmm ok but he/she would still go through the same process once she arrived on US soil. How would that help with delays. I might be ignorant to this so i apologize, just doesnt make any sense.

Toronto has a CBP preclearance faculty, so you go through customs and immigration before entering the country.
