Wife arrived early for 930 appointment time at HCMC consulate. She indicated that it was already packed with mostly families and there were maybe a handful K1 and IR1 waiting.

Took her biometrics.

First item - drop off documents at window. Then she waited for them to review and everything was in order. Then she waited to be called for interview and she was probably one of the last to be done.

An American CO interviewed her and they spoke in Vietnamese then switched over to English later in the conversation. It took all but 5minutes and then he Welcomed her to America.

Questions asked:

1. How we met? When/Where

2. Why did we marry in Thailand?

3. Who came to the wedding ceremony?

4. What I did for a living?

5. Asked to see some photos.

6. Asked to see tax transcripts.

7. How many times I came to see her in Vietnam?

She said the consulate staff and CO were very nice but worse part was long 3-4hr wait. There was no AC so it made it really uncomfortable.

She wasn't bored because she could hear the other interviews and some were very funny to the absurd level.

Thanks I think I was more worried than the wife about not having everything we needed document wise. As it turned out most of it wasn't needed, but better to be safe than sorry.

She probably had the same CO as my wife. He is a gentleman and very pleasant to talk to. He even made jokes during the interview, which made the whole interview seem like a walk in the park.

Well she was a bit worried since he seemed difficult to others though she mentioned a K1 applicant that was denied. He asked he if fiancé spoke Vietnamese or English and she said no. Then he asked if she spoke English she said no but do you communicate? Oh I use hand gestures and he will teach me English when I come.

I think if you are genuine you won't have any issue, but if someone tries to pull a fast one they can see it coming a mile away.
