Sorry for the delay, my laptop was at the office and I had no access to a computer.

Firstly, THANK YOU ALL for the amazing support and guidance. I would not have been approved if you all didn't brow beat me into get the BC translated at 8PM Monday night and take a chance on it not be notarized. Really, from the bottom of my heart - Thank you. If your on-line names were so creative and plentiful, I would name my first born after you all - Here's a thought, what if I name her "Journey"? Probably not, since she probably be harassed in grad school too much! I guess the thought will have to count.

oh ya, I WAS APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, no hassles about the BC. It was certified translated, but no notary. They didn't even question the commission.

O.k this is what happened:

I arrive a 7:45AM.

Apparently, my purse was too big - I told the lady, "but this is my 'small' purse!", she said, not small enough and too much ####### inside. I was like, but everyone needs lip gloss, an ipod, gum etc...? She says to get rid of it and come back with out. I went to a cafe, located on Rene-Leveque and attached to a hotel, and paid the manager $5.00 to hold it for me. I took out my wallet, and went back to the Embassy. I pass security and off I go.

I went to my designated window, and as luck would have it, I encountered the operator who got me my interview! So, be ware, be nice to the operators whom you speak with because they are the ones who collect your documents and forms! Plus, they actually remembered me - Thank goodness I was always polite and not rude or abrasive! Good Karma people!

She asked for my documents and copies of each.

- DS-156K (signed in front of the Consulate officer/operator)

- DS – 230 (2x copies)-(signed in front of the Consulate officer/operator)

- Birth Certificate (copy of act), with translation (with seal) and a letter explaining the certification (2x)

- Police certificate

- 2 passport pictures

- I-134 – copies of evidence if you do not want to give them the originals (they keep everything)

- Fiancé letter of intent

- Proof of ongoing relationship

- Letter from consulate stating appointment date (packet 4 letter)

- NOA2 (was not asked for)

- Express post envelope (don’t forget to put in the return address and the tracking number!)

- Passport

- Medical exam (envelope asked for, but not the X-ray)

She gave me a sheet of paper, and told me to go pay the cashier and then bring back the paper and put in the window slot. After that, she said go sit down in the waiting room and wait to be called.

Did as she asked, and made a friend while I was waiting. Interesting guy, already married and moving to the USA. He actually had a interview date last September but was in NYC and couldn’t make it, and this was the date that they re-scheduled him! I told he was nuts and that I couldn’t imagine waiting any longer than I already did.

He was called first – approved. I was called after him – approved. The Officer asked me how we met, what my Fiance does, is it profitable. That’s it. Told me my file was very organized and is approved. I would expect my Visa and passport in a couple of days!

That’s it. No drama, no surprises, no problem! I left a little after 9:00AM.

Maybe I am used to Montreal hospitals, but the waiting room didn’t look busy and it appeared that they could handle more K-Visa applications – but what do I know, I was there at 8:00AM and left at 9:00AM. Maybe if they processed more interviews, it would take a long time to get our VISA back.

Funny thing is, I was expecting an interrogation – where I would be in front of someone, with a desk in front of me, being questioned about my fiancé toothpaste preference! I guess I watch too much Law and Order!

So, now all I have to do is pack up my life and move!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, its amazing how focused I was on this interview, and now that it is finished, I have so much to do. Pack my life, in 1 week, sure no problem. Say good buy to loved ones – more difficult.

Wow! It’s crazy.

I spent the rest of the day yesterday, on my couch, reading a book, and lying in the sun. Gorgeous day and very therapeutic!

Back at work, and obviously I am distracted. Do I really have to work the rest of my life? It seems to me to be redundant! Birth, taxes and death here I come.

glad it went well!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Sounds fun.

I'll be living in domestic hell until I get my get out of jail EAD card in the mail, so a break would be welcomed - so long as your not crazy, that is? Just joking :)

Good luck with your interview - one question, do you have your Birth Certificate "Copy of Act", its certified translation and notary seal?

Believe me, you don't want to go down my route!
