How long does NVC hold K1 visa cases?

My case has been at NVC for a week. I've been told they keep K1 visa cases at NVC for a few days only and then forward it to the embassy/consulate.

What's the average waiting time for NVC to send it to the embassy?

I think about a week is good. Mine took exactly one week, but I seen a few that were over a week, but still less than a week. Check it tonight and see if it updates. I think mine were updated in the evening time. I think you should get the "In Transit" status this week!

So I called NVC today to verify receipt of NOA2 and obtain case number, and they informed me "case is very new, it can take up to 42 days for our system to be updated with that information"

Is this normal????? Are they trained to say this, or is something funny going on with my case? I understand they received my case exactly today, September 21, so it may not be in the system yet.

Just looking for thoughts here?

Thanks!

Of course that's what they so peole dunt can everyday and complain. It took a week for them to get my MNL number after they recieved it. Just wait until Thursday to quell your frustration with calling everyday. If they dunt have the number Thursday try Monday, then Wednesday.....of course you can call everyday but getting ahold of someone can be really hard and a day or two isn't going to make a difference.

I already posted this which clearly shows historical times. That are pretty good and under 40 days. Not sure why 42 so extreme anyways.

Relax calm down, you're only on day one. And I can see what that operator meant, my got sent to embassy and still didnt have information for days later when my number(s) did get updated. 40 is on the high side it sounds like all things considered the NVC is pretty fast, perhaps so fast their methodology for updating status can't keep up it seems like. Even when they ship it the information for your case isn't updated immediately even for them sometimes. The fact you even got thru on day was is amazing.

They always say that, so you are good. It took several days for my case to show on ceac.gov after I got our case number; I think at least four days or so.

You may get the NVC letter in 45 days, but your case should be at the embassy and might even have an interview scheduled by then!!

I have been asking the same question over and over here, my case has been at NVC for 3 weeks now, this is the 4th week. Have you asked the status of your case? They have been telling me that my case is in Administrative Processing and there is no timeline for that.

Spousal visas have a different process, but I see you are fiancée visa. That's a strange situation. Did they get your case number right? They must have; it's just strange!

Not strange at all. K1's are sometimes subjected to extra scrutiny at NVC. Times, as I have said in the NVC thread, have been running about 3-4 weeks these days. Ours was there nearly 8 weeks, but that was a few years ago.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
