Civil Marriage done...family celebration in June 2007

Timeline

Hey Guys.

Here is my situation:

I met my wife last October in Guyana. I went back in January (this year)…took Mom to meet her and her family. We got married by a marriage officer there – basically the civil marriage. We decided to do the big-bang (approx 400 people…300 from her side lol will be there) in June 2007 because some people who I wanted to be there (from the States) would not make it anytime but during the summer. I decided to submit her applications now as opposed to after the wedding because I didn’t want to be alone after the wedding

My Current status in this wonderful immigration waiting game:

I already filed the I-130 (got NOA1) and I-129F (should be getting NOA1 anytime this week…Uncle Sam cashed my check today)

My Questions:

1. Anyone traveled this route before? What was your experience with the interview? My wife and I have a wonderful relationship (aside from the distance between us). I support her financially. I plan on going to see her every 6-8 weeks (vacation time limited due to work schedule). We send a lot of snail mail to each other and talk about 3 times per day on the phone. We have our wedding coming up. Honeymoon in Tobago etc.

2. I’ve been looking at a few members time line and it seems that the K3 process is pretty fast. What are the chances that my Wife will have an interview before June 17th (our wedding date)?

Please share whatever opinions you may have on this matter….

Thank you very much!

Damian

PS. this is the same post i created in the K-3 forum

I dont wanna crush you but the average journay between six months to over a year! Look at my timeline. I submitted in July and my CR-1 was approved in Dec... My K3 was NEVER APPROVED. Typically people plan for their weddings after they have received their approval and lather the visas.... I'm sorry to say but this is a very lengthy process and you're better off paying any deposits for your wedding after you know when the interview will be....

I'm not trying to diss you but I just want you to have a realistic idea as to how long it'll take... Don't be mad at me!

Good! I thought he was gonna get married in the US, that's why I wrote that post! :D But if he's going to be getting married in Guyana, then there shouldn't be a problem. And vylex, you are right, the only thing he can't do is she won't be able to come back with his wife.
