ok so now not only am i called "petitioner" but on the i864 im now "sponsor" i thought sponsor on the i864 was if i didnt make enough and anywhere it said sponsor was about the person whos income also would be needed. this sucks

NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING when dealing with USCIS!!!! You should really read the instructions - you can fill out the forms on the USCIS website. It is the most current form. They will reject previous forms. You cannot omit pages.

Thoroughly read the instructions for form I-864 as provided by USCIS. Likewise with any forms that you send - I-485 Adjustment of Status.

The information provided by VJ are examples, many of them outdated. USCIS has been very busy updating their forms. DO NOT use any form not provided on the USCIS website (or obtained from a USCIS office...)

USCIS has gone crazy with RFE's - don't be surprised if you get one requesting additional info for income/verification of income and other evidence concerning your case.

You should also include most recent tax filing (download transcript from IRS website), W2 (even if you send them an IRS transcript), pay stubs, Letter of Employment from your employer stating your salary, length of employment and future prospects...etc. They're being ridiculous. MANY complaints about this.

The instructions indicate that you do not need to send in W2 when you send a transcript...well, it seems that they don't care what the instructions say. I know...from personal experience...just recently!

Best to take your time to do it right before sending it off. Even then, you might get an RFE for something by one of the worker-bees at USCIS.

Good Luck.

Ok so Im sending the AOS in today. There is a newer version of th I 864 not shown on visa journey. Hopefully I filled it out right, there are now 12 pages not 9. I included 2011, 2012, 2013 tax transcripts. 2014 transcripts were not available at the time due to a pending ITIN application for my wife to get her tax Id number. So I enclosed my 2014 W-2's and a copy of my 1040 federal return prepared by H&R Block. Hopefully it will satisfy them. You can no longer get tax transcripts online, you have to order them. The I485 is still an old form it has not been upgraded.

You're only required to submit the tax returns/transcripts for the most recent year. Have you provided pay stubs/employment letter to show ongoing income?

If your income is enough as shown on your recent tax returns, then no need for an employment letter or paystubs. I never included those and we were approved just fine.

As I said no transcript was available yet for this year. No where did I read anything about a letter from an employer, i showed gross income of aprox. 50k for the last 4 years.

I understand that but I also put slash tax returns meaning that you're only required to provide tax copies for the most recent year and you said you already included 2014 1040 copies and W2s which is why I was merely pointing out that it's not necessary to provide the transcripts for the previous years.

From the I-864 instructions, page 7:

You may include evidence supporting your claim about your expected income for the current year if you believe that submitting this evidence will help you establish ability to maintain sufficient income. You are not required to submit this evidence, however, unless specifically instructed to do so by a U.S. Government official. For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer’s address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. You may also provide pay stubs showing your income for the previous six months. If your claimed income includes alimony, child support, dividend or interest income, or income from any other source, you may also include evidence of that income.

Although it says 'not required', I always think it's best to provide these supporting documents in order to further evidence the ongoing income instead of maybe receiving a future RFE requesting more proof of income. But, it's entirely up to you if you want to provide these. I just wanted to let you know that this is something that most people include.
