I think the actual dates get published on this page http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/instructions.html as do the instructions, anyone entering please please ensure you have read them - especially regarding chargeability and listing dependents - the two most common mistakes that get people disqualified unnecessarily.

Oh wow good to know. Susie, since you've already went through the process and have been successful, how are you liking living in the US as compared to where you lived before? I know everyone's experiences would be different and for me personally I know it would be worth it but just curious to see how others feel about the process during and after.

So the US embassy in Egypt put an announcement on dv 2017 before the department of state does, which makes me wonder was it by mistake. Anyways the dates announced will be:- DV 2017 Program : Online registration for the DV 2017 Program will begin on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), and conclude on TUESDAY, November 3, 2015 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EST) (GMT-5).

DV-2017 Program Instructions still not posted but it expected in the coming 2 days. You can find the link here http://egypt.usembassy.gov/consular/dv2011.html

Btw Sussie how do I know if my photo is good? Is the validator on the application website good?

Like Susie just said my post is all about wanting to win the dv then how to go about the next logical step. A student visa is not very safe like a green card if anyone had the choice they would obviously go for the green card as it more security for you. Btw do you know how difficult it is to actually get a green card after studies in the us? My parents can fund my right way but if I have a permanent residence I am eligible to financial aid and can work which is good I believe that way I can depend on myself more and lessen the financial burden on my parents.

Dont jump the gun yet. People have been applying for 20+ years without winning it.

If you do win it in the near future if you are lucky, your status would be different.

Regarding how easy or difficult it is to get a GC after studies depends upon you and your employer.

If you are a permanent resident, there are still some conditions to fulfill to get financial aid. I do not think you may qualify for any aid unless your are a citizen.

Unless you think things through and provide enough financial support assurance, you cannot assume your financial burden will reduce once you get to US. For many purposes, it may increase.

This looks like an "Ask Anything" kind of topic, so I'll ask... :) I'm always confused about my Bachelor's degree - would I choose "University Degree"?

(In the country I'm originally from, Bachelor's is a relatively new thing, so people regard it as "well it's not like you really finished a University - if you stuck around another year you would have a real degree".)

I also don't have my high school paperwork (probably still at the University) and I wonder if it would matter seeing as I have my Bachelor's diploma - I think somebody had already asked a similar question, but now I can't find it :(
