Hello everyone,

I mailed out the I751 on sept 2nd, it was received and signed for on Sep. 4th. I haven't received my NOA yet and my green card expires in a week. I don't know what to do? Will it be a problem if I haven't received my NOA before my green card expires?

Please help. Really worried.

Also how do I go about renewing my Drivers License after getting the NOA?

It can take up to 30 days to receive receipt notifications from USCIS.

Does the tracking information show that it was delivered?

its possible, though unlikely, that they misplaced your application. In such a case, you need to keep evidence of their receipt safe since you will need this to file again after expiry-if you will need to. has the cheque been cashed?

yes it shows it was delivered on the 4th and it was signed for too. Should I resend my I751 package?

It can take up to 30 days to get your NOA which extends your green card. You need to calm down. Since you filed so close to the end of the 90-day window, it is understandable that you have not received your NOA yet and your green card expires soon. If you applied for the ROC, you will be fine. The only issue would be if for some reason before you receive the NOA you need to show a valid, unexpired green card. Did that happen? Do you need to show it? If not, relax. You do not need to resend your application - you filed very close to the end and now you just have to wait.

About renewing your driver's license. Most DMVs allow renewals with your expired green card and your extension letter. (Note: the extension letter is sometimes printed on plain, very unofficial looking paper so do not be alarmed by this.) However, some DMVs have untrained staff who know nothing about extension letters and give us a PRs a hard time. Some DMVs flat out do not accept the extension letters - they tell you to come back with the new green card which takes months to obtain. With such an unofficial looking letter, who can blame them? So hopefully you will have a "cooperating" DMV in your area.

It takes time for processing tho. Thats the main reason why they want u to send your renewal petition 90 days before your card expires. Now unfortunately you have to wait until they process. I don't know what State you live in and what kind of laws they have regarding renewing driver's license but most states will give your first license with a work permit and eventually a permanent license when you get your 2 year GC.
