Hello.

I am currently in the process bringing mom over. waiting for interview in Addis Ababa for mom. mom has 4 youngers brothers all under 18. i made a decision with lawyer's advice to fill IR-5 just for mom. When mom arrives she will file for the kids. the Process will go quicker that way. NOW, my question is Can mom request the kids to be added in her case during the Interview ? will that cause any problem for her? will it delay the process for her? or is it better just leave the case as it is, and have her file it for kids upon arriving her?

thanks soooo much.

Your post is confusing, because you mention a mom filing for kids, but then say they are brothers, not kids.

Is mom YOUR mom? Or whose mom? Are you related to the under-18-males in some way, and/ or to mom?

If "mom" is the sister of the under-18-brothers, she has to wait until she is a US citizen to file, it then takes 12+ years until a visa will become available.

If "mom" is the biological mother of the under-18-males, she can file for them as soon as she is a greencard holder, it will take about 1.5 years until a visa is available for them.

No confusion . biological mom and and bothers...all younger brothers. No sister. never mentioned a "sister". no idea where you got that. your last 2 sentences have been helpful to me in what I wrote. as soon as mom gets her green card she can file for my 4 brothers.

thanks for the info.

Oh, YOUR brothers; that is what wasn't clear initially, that they were your brothers and not the mom's, since you said "mom has 4 youngers brothers".

Lawyer is correct, your brothers (mom's kids) cannot be added to your petition for your mother.
