Am so so so sorry this happened to you. I wish I could give you a huge hug right now.

Look at the bright side. If he is hiding this information from you, how many more important things is he hiding?

Maybe he is really married with a kid and is hiding it from you.....(just thinking)

This is a very sensitive subject matter but if I were in your shoes, I would dump him,cry so hard to relief myself of all the hurt, take a shower, go to the spa for a soothing massage, put on a lovely dress n makeup, get something great to eat and buy myself a gift for all my troubles.

God bless you and good luck with whatever choice you make.

Here are some links for you to research http://immigrate2us.net/forum/archive/index.php/f-79.htmlnot sure if they will post or be deleted, this one is from the

immigrate2us dot com, they have very helpful waiver information in their forums and hardship letter examples.

Here is a very reputable and good attorney you can consult http://www.humanrightsattorney.com/misrepresentation/ Heather Poole, attorney.

I disagree that most waivers pertaining to your circumstances are approved. It's very expensive and difficult to proof hardship in your situation

and not advisable as a DIY.

I would walk away from it all and move on with your life.

Ebunoluwa wouldn't it be advisable to be married to file a waiver? I had read many times as a fiance' its near to impossible to prove a hardship case (unless you had kids together )

Fiance from Ghana with a misrep waiver is TOUGH ! You will be advised by an attorney to marry first and then risk it because a spouse

waiver has much more pull than a fiance. You said you feel embarrassed, don't, all you did was love him and believe in him. He is the one who

should be embarrassed. My heart goes out to you because a decade ago I was in your shoes with the same situation. I ended it.

Years later I found true love with a wonderful man who is now here and my hubby.

getting married in nigeria is out of the question for me. I can do many many things, but THAT one I cannot do. My parents are here and my family is here.. They will not fly there for a wedding. I want them at my wedding, whether it be to this one or someone else. I have had two marriages already and no proper ceremony. I will not do that for the third and final time.

See, there are just too many obstacles and hurdles, well more like brick walls for this;

I totally understand, it's a big commitment after finding out he was not honest with you

that's why I would walk away and you really don't know if he is married, has another fiance and a child or just lied on the application.

But that's your decision to make.

His story of the wife (or i believe you said she was a fiance) and a child on a previous application could go one of two ways....yes it could have been a lie to better his chances of getting the non-immigrant visa OR he could actually have them and be using you for a GC. Like your friend told you, he is from a horrible country and desperate to do anything to get out, which would explain lying on the application, but there is NO excuse for lying to you. There is no way to sugar coat that, especially when you two have discussed similar issues and he never came forward about it. If my husband had told me he had submitted something similar like that, my reaction first would be like, hold up...so do you or dont you have a wife and chilld? If I was convinced of his answer, then my next question would be..ok, how are we going to overcome this with OUR application. Had he been upfront, you could've spent all these months and resources finding out the best way to accomplish your petition request despite his past submission. He ruined all of that for a lie. And if he soooo strongly felt the need to lie, then I would be leaning towards the thought that maybe it was true, half true or at the very least there are more lies to be revealed.

I soo much believe this is why face time...lots and lots of face time is so important. I know its not always possible with people's work schedules, but find a way. If you spend a long time in the country with your fiance/spouse, and there are lies or deception, they are surely going to be brought to light. It is certain that eventually the truth will be discovered. Something will start to not look right..mysterious "sisters" will start popping up out of nowhere, etc. I think if you decide to move forward with the relationship, then find a way to go there and spend a substantial amount of time with him. That may be the only way you learn to trust him again. As for wanting your family to attend your wedding, you could always just do the simple court wedding in Nigeria, but save the "big" wedding for when you're home with your family. I dont think you'd have a standing chance fighting for a waiver if you're not married. Best wishes and good luck with whatever you choose to do.

If you can't go spend a lot of time or don't want to invest the money for tickets, Nigeria does have private investigators, They frequently use them to thoroughly check out potential spouses from outside their community. Of course you would need to arrange this through someone that wasn't close to him so there wouldn't be undo influence. It is hard to tell if he just followed the common advise that having family is the key to getting a visa. I guess they just never get the feedback about how badly that goes later on. ( one case I know of the person used a wife and child on an application and came and got married almost immediately and is now being asked about where the wife in Nigeria went to ) Only you can decide if the trust is too broken to go on.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

My husband and I comically tossed around the idea of him becoming a PI for these types of cases after one friend of ours (in the US) asked us to go snoop around her husbands house in Ghana after they married, and she left to go back to the States. We ultimately concluded that this business venture might not work, because much like the way the police conduct their business...the outcome/results will benefit the highest payer! lol

Why was he so keen to visit the US.

From your profile story, you met him in Ghana. Is he Ghanian or Nigerian? If he is Nigerian and asked that you meet him in Ghana, pls run as fast as your legs can carry you because he is possibly married with kids.

Why was he so keen to visit the US.

because i am here. he said fiance and kid, from what he tells me. But honestly I think he is keen to be anywhere except nigeria. That is not to say that he doesn't love me and my son. But how can you see hope in a relationship that depends on convincing a government to trust you when you have lied to that government so many times.

To be honest, I have great compassion and love for him. I and looking face to face to what desperation and circumstances can bring a person. And you want to do right and be upright, buy your past sins appear to be stacked against you. Err but by the grace of God there go I and a lot of other black people. It is funny but when i was in nigeria, people insisted that I was Igbo. I had Igbo people telling me that I was Igbo. I was demanded of a Nigerian passport when I went to leave because they were sure I was Igbo.

But God is able.

Unless it was her idea to go to Ghana. My husband is Nigerian and we live in Ghana. Much much much safer, stable light, etc.

It was my idea to go to ghana at the time for those very reasons and at the time I booked my ticket and declared my trip with my security office, there was an advisory on Edo state due to kidnappings. I attached all that to my red flags paperwork in my petition.

Makes you wonder what he said was the purpose of his visit, presumably not to visit you.
