Hi everybody i have a 2 simple questions regarding a CAR insurance,

1. I don't have my own car yet and would like to use from time to time my spouse's car, i just got a driver licence the first driver licence in my life :), i think if i want to use his car i should be ADDED to his insurance's car policy, is this correct?

2. Is there any Negative effects? if i'm added to his car insurance?: like been obligated to pay something in the future on his behalf? or having a bad driving record somehow because of the joint names on insurance!! I'm asking this question because since i got added to one of his bank account i got a bad /negative record because the account was overdrawn+ bad credit card, and this negativity is now in my record, so i need to ask before i get added to his car insurance he is good driver i'm the one that i just got driver licence , but i just need to understand more if being added to car insurance will make me responsible for something in future or no! will effect something in my driving record or no! Thanks , wish i get some clarification about this subject

I don't understand what responsibility i have if i become joint to my spouse car insurance policy

if somebody know in general this responsibility please let me know,

i thought there is no responsibility you are just using a car and you are insured because you are added to the car insurance, you are insured too if using a car and you are not added to the car insurance too, this is what i know.

f you are a Joint Insured then you both have the same responsibilities under the terms of the insurance contract.

By being on the insurance you both bear responsibility on the policy and any negative effects like traffic tickets or accidents by either party will hurt your premiums. Also premiums will likely jump a little if you're added on the policy.

8/25/2014: Received biometrics in mail. Scheduled for 9/8/2014

9/24/2014: EAD approved. 36 Days!

10/01/2014: EAD mailed.

10/03/2014: Received EAD card.

10/14/2014: I-485 moved to testing and interview.

1/28/2015: Interview scheduled for 3/4/2015.

1/31/2015: Received interview notice.

3/4/2015: Interview completed and APPROVED!

3/5/2015: Welcome notice mailed and I-130 Approved.

3/10/2015: Welcome notice and I-130 approval notice received.

3/12/2015: Green card mailed.

3/14/2015: Green card delivered.

12/14/2016: Mailed I-751.

12/19/2016: NOA issued.

01/26/2017: Biometrics.

05/03/2018: I-751 transfered to NBC.

02/27/2019: Joint I-751/N-400 Interview.

05/14/2019: I-751 APPROVED.

Naturalization:

12/02/2017: Mailed N 400 to Phoenix, AZ Lockbox. (I-751 still pending)

12/05/2017: Package delivered in Phoenix, AZ. Transferred to Harrisonburg Processing Center.

12/07/2017: Notice of action issued. (IOE)

12/26/2017: Biometrics.

01/23/2019: Interview Scheduled for 2/27/2019.

02/27/2019: Joint I-751/N-400 interview. N-400 recommended for approval.

05/16/2019: N-400 APPROVED! Placed in line for oath ceremony.

05/17/2019: Oath ceremony notice mailed.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This is what I was thinking about. if there are any traffic accident/tickets from 1 part this will be in both our driving records? This is what do you mean? Or you meant this just hurt the premium?

If I understood well here is the general idea or basic info about adding to car insurance : Both Parties are responsable financially for insurance payment to drive the car, and if there are any traffic tickets, accidents....will just hurt the one who is using the car the responsable of the traffic mistake , I'm correct?

one persons traffic accidents won't be on the other's driving records. but, it may affect the premium (likely increase the cost)

if you're jointly insured then both are responsible for making payments on time and whatever is laid out in the terms of agreement

Hi rawas,

if in the future you get your own car with your insurance, yours won't be as high thanks to your spouse already being insured, I save a couple hundreds thanks to that ^^

I think I know what you want to know. Just like adding you to his insurance will increase his premium by a fair margin since you are a new driver, so will any tickets by anyone of you. You will both be responsible to pay the insurance and that fact will reflect on both of your credit. driving tickets will impact both the insurance premium (common) and and will be on the driving records of whoever got the ticket (self).
