Urgent-CR1- Beneficiary name wrong in case complete notification

Guy,

I need advice. Thought out the process they have had beneficiary name as my wife's name. Today I got case complete notification and it has her middle name as her first name, my name as her middle name.

Called nvc and they said it will be alright and we can have it updated at the time of interview, but my assumption is if appointment letter has same (wrong) name then embassy won't even let her in for interview cuz Mumbai embassy only allows in for interview candidates having their name on appointment.

I can do two things

1. Re-open my case, and wait another 30-60 days for getting my case complete

2. Go to interview with wrong name and try to get it update there.

P.S: all the invoices/recipes had valid name, since I saw today wrong name, I checked invoices/receipts today and they have wrong name.

Actually you should correct this mistake before the interview

Send a regiater letter (keeping a copy for yourself) and send copies of the 2 ID's (should not need originals as they should have them)

i had to correct his DOB as other countries write day and them month (you would think USCIS knows this) but they put it in computer wrong

I personally would not reopen the case at NVC. You may get stuck in their waiting limbo.

I know that in Brazil they correct it at the time of the appointment at the embassy - our names are quite different than the ones in the US and there are usually quite a big number of mistakes. They ask all applicants to review everything thoroughly at the time of the interview because that is the last chance to get it corrected.

I don't know about other countries though.

Thank you both for quick reply....my concern is, in India (Mumbai embassy) they only allow persons having name on appointment letter only. So the name I am having on letter tht person doesn't not even exits and since my wife's name is not there- I m scared tht they might won't let her in interview waiting room...

Anyone having experience with Mumbai embassy and know how they let ppl enter in waiting room ?
