What has your experience been in changing your Interview date

I have finally received confirmation that my interview has been scheduled for Oct 14. I have a trip booked from Oct 5-16 (Dubai for our honeymoon) and would lose just about $2,000 if I try to reschedule my trip.

I know it is possible to re-schedule but I am afraid of how much of a set back it may be? Should I play it safe and just keep my interview date and just re-book my trip?

When I emailed the Montreal Consulate, this was their response

Please note that in order to be able to reschedule an appointment that has been scheduled by the National Visa Center, the applicant must wait after the interview day to be able to reschedule an appointment. There will be a significant wait before the applicant is able to book a new appointment; the date and time of your appointment have been carefully selected for you. We therefore highly recommend applicants to attend their original interview date. Also, given the staffing and volume we have and the fact that the interview schedule is already set, please note that we cannot reschedule in order to meet a specific date.

I am not sure if I am reading it wrong? But what do they mean by I have to wait after the interview to reschedule?

Better re-book your trip. Get that interview and than enjoy your honeymoon better

This is one of those where you and your spouse will have to decide which is more important. Rescheduling the interview will cause the two of you to be apart for however long it takes to get a new interview date and then issued the visa. This is a very big unknown and could be in the range of a few weeks to months. You could reschedule the trip and incur the costs of making those changes. You could leave on the date already selected and then return 3 days early in order to make it to the interview. I would pick going to the interview, but that is me.
