Hi everyone

I have been waiting patiently for my packet 3 from the London embassy, NOA2 was August 21st 2015 and it was sent to the NVC on the 28TH august 2105

Today I found out today from a lady in London (different name and different address) but applying for a K1/2/3, who I don't know has received a packet 3 covering letter from the London Embassy, but it contained my full petition inside, the full 6 pages with all our information given on the original petition. very strange and very worrying! On the top was what I think was our case number beginning LND.

After contacting the lady it seems a big mistake has been made and she told me her case number was exactly the same but the last number was different, ie the one after me.

I have tried putting the case number into the CEAC and it states ready, what do you I think I should do? Can I use the case number to book my medical etc, as it seems to be delaying my petition and I want to get on with it. Help please!

You may continue on with booking your medical, completing the DS-160, etc.

DO inform the embassy of their mistake in sending out your I-129f petition to another K1 applicant with a case number one digit after yours, who in turn informed you because your personal information was sent to her instead of her own. Tell them you have not received your letter of instruction. Use this contact form and tick the 5th box as the reason http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/visa_contact_form.html

Your London instructions in case you don't know the link already http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/fiance_instructions.html

You may begin since your status says ready, even without the letter.

Nich-Nick thank you again for your help and advice, where would this forum be with you, you are just absolutely irreplaceable, you restore my faith in humanity, the fact that you put together the most comprehensive self help guide for K1 applicants, that must have took so much time and effort, thank god there are nice people in the world like you, just wanted to say that.

I have an Attorney supposedly helping me, but I don't think I shall retain them for the rest of this process, ie AOS etc.

What do you think happened with my petition being sent to someone else, do you think I'll get a letter eventually with her petition in? It is very worrying isn't it, all that sensitive information being flung around.

Thank you for the nice compliment!

It is worrying that somebody sending out letters got their inserts crossed. I think your delay is that your stuff is not there to send out. Not sure the exact process, but either they know you need a letter and are wondering where you petition is; or it is the petition papers that spur the letter, so ther's nothing to indicate you need a letter. (because they lost it in another person's letter!!)

There have been instances of the wrong instruction page went out. Like a K1 got the spouse letter and instructions which totally confused them. But the worst was two guys with almost identical names who interviewed close together. Forgot the names, but let's say "David A Jones" got his visa and sealed envelope. Meanwhile "David B Jones" was approved yet his visa was not being issued and he was concerned about the holdup. So David A eventually flies off to Boston. The POE officer opens his sealed envelope and says "this is not your file and I can't process your K1 entry". They did let him stay however, and could only say that the papers belong to somebody with a similar name. They weren't even sure what to do with the file and he worried how long that would take to het sorted and if his file was also going to end up at another POE before found. But through Visa Journey, they found each other and communicated with each other and London to resolve it quickly without waiting on the bureaucracy solution. It is a great VJ story. The other half of your mistake seems to be on VJ because I have had a PM from somebody with the wrong petition asking if they actually need their own for anything. Both of you can carry on with the instructions because the petition mixup won't actually affect processing going forward. But it is worrying.
