My husband is a naturalized us citizen. His certificate got lost after the process of my daughters application for CRBA. I dont really know what exctly happened. On the intervie notice that I got, it says bring your spouses birth certificate or cert of naturalization or cert ofcitizenship. Since it got lost, can I show them US passport and the COPY of cert of citizenship instead? Yes, I was able to make a copy of the cert. Or should i just go ahead and apply for replacement? If so, how long will it take? Thank you so much

you will need to file for N-565, which cost $345 in Nebraska or Texas service center depending upon where you live. it takes less than 6 months as per USCIS. i think this will be your best bet as you need the certificate anyways.

check this for expediting this - http://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

aah, this is a tricky situation. i am not going to tell you to do what you been wanting to do at your interview will be fool proof or not because i do not know but that is pretty much you can do.On a side note , they might not even ask you for your husband's certificate during the interview, not saying you should just go in on their mercy. do take the photocopy, original pp of your spouse and preferably the receipt for N-565.
