Does birth certificate need translation?

I have searched and not found this exact topic.

My fiancee has a Portuguese birth certificate. It is written in Portuguese and French on the front. Each item is numbered. The back side of the document has a numbered list with translations in multiple languages including English for each numbered item. Her interview will take place in Paris.

Will she need to have a certified translation of this birth certificate? I think she wouldn't since both the English and French translations are there on the document.

I have attached a picture of the back of the birth certificate.

Hey Julie,

Without actually seeing the document its self, the question you'd ask would be: is this an official document? - Yes Is there a translation of document - Yes so I would venture to say that you could use the document as official and not have any problems. I think one the reason for the translation is so someone reviewing the document, who doesn't speak the language, will know what it says and what document it is and for.

You won't need to have any documents translated for the Paris Embassy. They will accept documents in Portuguese.

The post is from September,you already got the right answer for sure, but anyway, i believe all documents have to be translated to English. It doesn't matter what country or from where you are applying.
