Is it legal and okay for my wife, an I-145 pending, to use the health department for her other vaccinations? I know she came here on a support form stating that she wouldnt use any government assistance for some years.

I know that when I spoke with the Cival Surgon's office here in Charlotte, I asked if we could get the bloodwork testing for the vaccines done there and they informed me it was no problem. Especially as we would be paying for the tests and it wouldn't be a freebie--just discounted sevices. You could call the 1-800 "misinformation Line" and see what they tell you.

I think that all depends on the civil surgeon. The civil surgeon I went to told me I have to get everything done through them or they wont give me the necessary paperwork. But they did accept all the vaccinations I had already done in Germany.

They also told me that it is illegal to get a shot and have your health insurance (here in the states) pay for it. I dont know if that is true. I was lucky and needed kust one more shot.

Your civil surgeon was a #######, if you'll excuse my French. Of course its not illegal to have shots on your health insurance, its called "preventative medicine" and they're all for that. Also I can't believe your surgeon wouldn't allow you to have the shots cheaper elsewhere, my surgeon recommended I do that!

I had all my shots done at a Dept of Health clinic... only had to pay $15 for the whole lot... they gave me a slip of paper showing what I had done and I took that back to the Civil Surgeon and he inserted the information on the medical form....

sounds like ur civil surgeon wants some more money from u. i beleive we only paid 15 also for them thru the health dept. if it were illegal to use your health insurance for shots then when i had my daughter 17 years ago they wouldnt have paid for them. all of hers including her hepatitus she had a few years ago were claimed on the insurance.

I had mine done at the dept. of health.

If you read the last page of the I-865 it says that the sponser is responisble for the person NOT being a public charge, it says the only exceptions are emergency medical care and vaccines....so they are ok!

File a complaint against that idiot........he shouldn't be on the list of REQUIRED civil surgeons. Not like bad business practices are going to hurt him if he's one of few on a list. Guy sounds like a scam artist.

Cause I know when I went to get my vaccinations at the health department they asked me if I was employed, I said, no, they only charged me 20 dollars or so for the shots. If I had a job, it would have cost me 60 or 70. I think I read that about the public charge thing in the I-186 as well...we're also wanting to get her some birth control. And, as I have no health insurance, maybe planned parenthood would help.

Maybe I should file a complaint against that idiot. He didnt even see me. he just signed it and thenurse gave me the shot. I was already so pissed when I left that ofice. They should have something tht deals with stuff like that. because it seems that everybody is charging different things and especially when you just need the vaccination supplement it seems like there is no one who isnt running into trouble!

Please correct me if I'm wrong but that meant, that because I had health insurance I could have told had it done by a normal public physician?? That idiot he probably claimed it anyways even though I payed for it in cash.

It is very likely that the Health Dept can help you with birth control at a reasonable (or no) cost as well.

i worked for a health department for some time.

you need to call the health department that you has jurisdiction over your residence

belive it or not the rules are different in every health department, and even from state to state

some health departments would serve you while others would not

i would go ahead and give them a call and jsut ask them

theres a good chance they would do it.

be sweet and be nice - it will go a long way

youll be dealing with the nurses that work in the public health nursing.

i worked with them for many years....the sweet and lovable will get you the extra rule bent if needed.
