A friend needs counsel how to protect herself and children from abusive resident husband. Can anyone offer links, legal resources, experience or advise to give her asap? Many thanks

My general advice is to go to a shelter if it is really bad, and never be alone with the other person- always have another adult with you for a witness.

In a abusive relationship with or without children and you state: As soon as possible. That means now... Get yourself and the children out and call the Police and they will provide you with local resourses in the area.

Uunfortunately, she is at risk for deportation if she reports this to authorities. The urgency is that someone else is legally bound to report it on behalf of the children within the next 48 hours.

Knowing this, it is only a matter of time before her status is revealed. What can she do to begin her paperwork process in hopes of that keeping her here until this is worked out?
