NVC Translation?

Hi..I am patiently waiting for my husbands NOA2 approval. We are at TSC, NOA1 date of 5/8.

Im gathering all documents I need to send to NVC. He is in Dom Republic.

I have:

-AOS

-IRS Transcripts

-Letter from my Employer/Pay Stubs

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

copies of His BC, our MC (legalized / inextensa)

copy of Police certificate.

Husbands passport photos

hubbys passport biographic page.

Does anything have to be translated from English to Spanish or Spanish to English?

police certificates must be within the last 90 days / some actually expire

all has to be translated into English and attached to the original in his native language (not the passport )

NVC will inform you of what they need as some documents are already in your application packet

just hope the interview does not happen in the next year as we are getting close and when this happens, you will need IRS tax forms from 2015

so, fill out the 2015 ASAP as you have not yet gone to NVC and may fall into interview in 2016

I was told that documents u are going to send to nvc don't need to be translated if they are in native language of the country you are going through the process with his visa.You are going to be in santo Domingo embassy and Spanish is the native language of all you documents.

This is correct, document translation requirements vary from country to country. If the Embassy in Santo Domingo does not require document translations for documents in Spanish, then translations will not be needed.

I translated birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certificate. I later received a check list for the marriage certificate because I forgot to send the (apostillado).On the checklist they ask to send the correct marriage certificate with a English translation. To be in the safe side just translate everything that is in Spanish to English.

I think he meant to say "legalizado" not "apostillado". Those are two very different things. People often do get check listed if an correct certificate (legalizado & inextensa) are not submitted

They say they accept photocopies, but me personally, I would send originals in to be in the safe side ( ppl have also been check listed for not sending originals). .

In regards to translations, YOU DO NOT need to translate documents that are in Spanish when taking them to the embassy for interview. However, Im not sure about NVC, but it seems like it would have the same procedure. Since the documents are in the language of the country where the visa will be issued, it shouldn't be a problem.

Originals are required for the interview, no one will be checklisted for not sending originals to the NVC now since they only want photocopies. If a checklist were to be issued for this, a call to the NVC and pointing out what it says on the website would be the remedy.

Hi,

You MUST have translations of ALL civil documents if the originals are in Spanish. The translator's credentials or competency must be included with his or her translation. Usually, a translator knows this, but to be sure, have them include a statement attesting to their qualifications.

The original documents (not photocopies), with translations, must also be brought with you at the time of the interview.

You seem to have all docs in order. Good for you. Remember to xerox front and back side with the seal and bar code from the Civil Registry Office. The NVC requires only photocopies. I included COLOR copies. Also, be sure to write your CASE NUMBER clearly on the upper right hand side of each and every document you submit. I would also print your husband's name below the case number. Include the Bar Code sheet as the facing page. I also recommend sending it Express Mail with return receipt. Finally, be sure to call the NVC after your submission has arrived to check on your case status. If there is a problem, a good CSR will point out your error. I believe you are good to go.

Good luck! You will be fine. And good luck to all! I received third N/A on Friday, September 17 after several delays, which were the result of some mistakes on my part, and the NVC not sending a checklist.

I failed to provide the Inextensa form of both my wife's birth certificate and our marriage certificate. I also failed to have them legalized. The NVC didn't send me a checklist until after I called, which is when I was prompted to correct the aforementioned errors. It set us back approximately three or four months. It was mostly my fault for not checking the details of the required documents as I should have. I'm a fairly detail oriented person, but even the most scrupulous can make small errors. I did. And boy, the Dominicana temper came out full force in my wife!

 

From what you wrote, I believe you will have no problem with the Civil documents. See my previous comments. The translations are important I think, and you will need them when you are scheduled for the interview at the Embassy.

 

Organize your documents well, use paperclips when necessary, label each document in the upper right hand corner along with your husband's name. Treat this process like a term project with multiple parts--one that you are proud of, and one that is clear to the reader. I even used post-it notes to identify each of the documents. I placed the translations under the color photocopy of the original. Make copies of the translations. Make copies of all documents you send.

 

You'll be fine. Again, reread my previous post and what other folks have wrutren in this regard. We're here to help each other. Let me know if you have questions.

 

Our case was received at NVC back in February. But again, there were mistakes I made, and a lack of specificity on the first checklist sent be the NVC. It wasn't until I called that a helpful CSR pointed out my error.

 

Also be as well organized with your financial documents. If you haven't submitted them already, label all as I suggested. Organize clearly and logically.
