My I-864 has cleared and the IV Fee check should be getting cashed this week. So I'm getting the DS-230 ready to send in and I plan on using the shortcut method to speed things up. Can anyone confirm just exactly what needs to be sent in to the NVC for this? Our consulate is Guangzhou in China.

Will I just be sending in Part I of the DS-230 with my wife's passport biographic copy? Or does China get Part I and Part II (no sig on part II)? Anything else besides this?

You need to send in DS-230 Part I -only-. You can submit a photocopy of the biographic page of the passport if you'd like, though this isn't necessary. Don't send in DS-230 Part II to NVC.

Could you point me to this "shortcut method" I keep hearing about?

NVC doesn't take part 2, just part 1. It says right on the form that you only send in Part 1. Part 2 is taken by the immigrant to the interview, where the consulate has them sign on that line.

It doesn't matter. I'm done with this country and its poor treatment of its own citizens. I'm taking my person, my money and most importantly my taxes and moving to China on March 15th. I'm spending my morning notifying the lease holder on my offices and setting up new forwarding arrangements.

Upwards of 20 US citizen's jobs and $2 million dollars in tax revenue to the US Government will be going with me. Maybe the government can use my $380 filing fee on the unemployment benefits they will soon be paying out. I'm sick to death of the racist, self hating ####### that passes for government policy in this so-called has been country. I'm an American citizen and get NOTHING from this country except personal ridicule when I travel overseas and non-action internally. Meanwhile, any avocado picker with two good legs can walk over here and get free EVERYTHING. I cna't even get a tourist visa for my own wife. Yet my gardners drive over the border freely every fricking morning. America can go to hell. I'm going to move to where I'm appreciated.

The rest of you, welcome to America. SURPRISE! It sucks.

Jim <== formerly super-patriotic ex-Marine. Now, eyes open disillusioned realist. America is racist to the core and I'm taking my white-bread ####### elsewhere. I know, I know, good riddnace. At least we are in agreement.

I've had enough. I've had way more than enough.

Today I had a delivery at my warehouse by a Mexican driver straight from Guadalajara Mexico. No screening, no visa, no inspection, zero, zip, what's the Spanish word? NADA.

Yet, I can't get through immigration with a spouse of an American citizen in almost 18 months. And we take it. And take it and take it and........

Once piece of paper in and wait weeks or months until our government, OUR government, deems that they can get to it. Oh thank you your majesty, your lordship, your highness. Please let me say thank you, kiss your ####### and be glad for my opportunity to stand servile and in reverence to this process that protects me, my country, my property from what? Are we to be protected from a 50 Kg college graduate who speaks, reads, writes and comprehends English perfectly? Oh that I should have a gardner who can understand the word grass, cut, bush, dig.... He comes across the border from Tijuana AT WILL. So does this trucker in a death trap this morning who also cannot speak English. "How long did you wait at the border?" ""Que hora a la immigre?" "dos"

Dos? Dos? Two hours for some Mexican with no papers. I don't mind he's Mexican. They work hard and after all, we took half their country away from them at the point of a gun. I don't mind they come and go apparently at will. I do mind that I am the one treated as the non-citizen. I do mind that I have to mail my paperwork to some service center on the other end of the country where I get no appreciable help. Why do I mind this? Because if I happened to be an openly illegal alien from Mexico in southern California, not only will I not be deported for anything short of killing a cop, the Federales of the United States of Mexico Jr. will build immigration offices all over the place to assist these "immigrants" with getting their paperwork ogether RIGHT ON THE SPOT. No CSC. No NVC. No nothing, zip, zilch NADA. Just make sure your name is Hispanic and we, the Federales of the United States of Mexico Jr. will build you places in YOUR neighborhoods where you can come in and let us help you stay as long as it takes to convince the electorate its time for another amnesty.

THAT is what happened. I'm American but I'm second class in my own country. WHY? Well, I don't know and I no longer care. I've had enough. So, I'm going to move to China. Amazingly, they don't seem to care if I come and go as I please. The closed communist society welcomes me, my jobs and my money as being good for their country. Again, this wouldn't make any difference to me in comparison to my own country if Mexico Jr. would treat my wife like she is brown instead of yellow. It wouldn't matter if I could go stand in lines at the Mexico Jr. immigration offices with my paperwork. But I can't. Neither can you. Get born here, pay your taxes, risk your life in defense of your country and you will get the two year run around. Sneak in, avoid taxes, let the legitimate citizens pay to school your children, take care of your sick and pop your babies out and you will get the Federales of the United States of Mexico Jr. to build air conditioned immigration offices just for you and only for you.

Well they can do it without my monetary backing. I'm firing 20 people on March 15th. I won't be paying their income taxes anymore. I won't be paying their pipe dream SSN accounts anymore. I won't be paying proprty taxes or sales taxes here anymore. I won't pay licensing fees. I won't pay import duties. I won't do squat for this country anymore. $2 miilion a year in direct taxes. Poof! 20 families with no main source of income. Poof!

I'm going to let this piece of toilet paper of a visa app go through and then when I get it I'm going to stand in the middle of the consulate, tear it in half and put it on the floor and rub it into the grime with my toe and walk out. America is dead to me. I don't deserve this place and it certainly doesn't deserve me. Love or leave it is a good motto. I'll be out before the screen door can slap me in the butt.

that was quite the entertaining rant. I'm not really sure what to say to it. I guess "Live in China for a year and see how you feel then". you make a lot of good points, but when it comes down to it... America's not a half-bad place to live, even if some of our policies are a little warped. Go to China for a year... you'll see...

NVC doesn't take part 2, just part 1. It says right on the form that you only send in Part 1. Part 2 is taken by the immigrant to the interview, where the consulate has them sign on that line.

Not correct. Depending on which country you are from, some require you to submit both parts I & II to NVC along with police certificate, birth certificates etc.

Care should be taken in responding to a post if you don't know for sure of the correct answer as it can steer someone wrong and add time to anothers process.

Jim,

Everyone: Yes, I guess I'm ranting. I'm not ranting against America per se. But I definitely have my issues with whoever set up the process to take over 1 year. My problem is that my wife's family is positive I am just treating their daughter like a mistress, a #######.

It is quite common to have immigration issues on the news in China. They see reports. So does my wife. K-1s getting through in 4 months. If someone who has just found some girl on the internet, made one visit and now is taking an unmarried girl to the USA in 4 months, why can't a married couple get a visa in 18 months. An excellent question. Why?

I don't begrudge the K-1 applicants their great luck. But why do K-3/CR-1 people not get equal treatment? The wheels are off the cart. I'm not leaving America because I don't like it here. I'm not a commie loving goofball. Its nice here. For people with money, its incredibly nice here. I am not some idiot who is looking to move to the worker's paradise. I own a house there and live there even now about 30% of the time. I know what its like there and I'd rather be here.

I'm moving to save my marriage.

I wish I was in many of your shoes. A lot of you are trying to get a spouse from a third world country, just like me. But many of you also have spouses in perfectly acceptable countries like England, Australia, Germany, etc. I wish I was lucky enough to have a spouse in a country with little or no travel restrictions. Sarha has never visited here. She has never met my family. Women married to American's don't get tourist visas. Yet, we go to companies and the female employees talk about seeing me at trade shows in America and how many times they have come for business.

My wife, MY WIFE cannot get here to see me at all. But little tarts from no where can come over for trade shows. Yes, I understand the process. Does my wife? Does her family? No. And I can't explain discrimination and policy to them in a way that makes sense. Because there is NO sense to it.

So now I have to screw up a perfectly good company and lots of employees lives to go over and hunker down and assume a bunker mentality against her family and her own doubts until this process ends. And then, what if some capricious officer at the consulate just doesn't like my wife's look and denies the visa? We all know how there is no check, no reining in of the power of these people. Sure I can appeal, I can start over. But I can guarantee you, my marriage is a teeter-totter, it might not survive this. All while people who really don't even know each other walk off to discover whether they even like each other with a K-1 visa.

Bitter? Disillusioned? You bet. You should be too. This is our country. It doesn't belong to Secretary Rice, Chertoff or a bunch of career politicians. It belongs to us and the process should be set up to attempt to streamline applications for our fiancees and spouses. I don't see that. I see roadblocks.

So forgive me if I'm just a little past being miffed.

There may be one ray of hope. One of my largest suppliers is a Taiwanese firm with warehouses here. The VP/General Manager stopped by today and I told him what was happening. He said "Chinese mothers are all crazy. Do you want all of us to call her and tell her you talk about your wife constantly, inflict your bad Chinese on our ears and show us her picture way too often with a big smile on your face?"

I'm waiting for my wife to come home from the store to ask her.

Its nice to know heads of multi-billion dollar companies will take the time to line up half the board of directors to make calls on your behalf. I just about cried.

Then I talked him down 20% on a new product :)
