Hello everyone, I just scheduled for my tourist visa interview this for October of this year and currently completing documents needed for the interview.

I need some a few guides on my situation.

This may be a long read:

I'm in my late 20s from the Philippines but currently live and work in Bahrain as a Registered Nurse for over 2 years now. I met my US military BF here and have been dating for almost 2 years now.

He is retiring from military this end of September, on terminal leave (went back to the US) and still in the process of looking for jobs, preferably as a civilian contractor overseas as he prefers to live abroad. He wants me to go visit him this December and he offered to cover all expenses, he lives with his parents for now and that's where I will stay during my visit. While we were filling up my DS-160, he decided to include his mother's name as my "sponsor" because she owns the house and he (bf) has not been in the US most of his military career (no mortgage, has decent savings and just recently got a car). We have no plans of getting married any time soon. Reason I want to go visit him, is to not spend the holidays alone here in Bahrain, meet his family in person and of course see America for the first time.

I don't think I have enough money saved in my bank account here in Bahrain (close to $1000). I pay mortgage for my house in the Philippines (original documents not with me, with bank). Have a small savings in my Bank account in the Philippines (about $2000; I have bank certificate from May this year but due to time constraints, while on vacation in PI I wasn't able to request for bank statement for the previous months from April and recent months). My Family lives in the Philippines and I go home every year.

So far I have the following documents: Job contract, Salary certificate, photocopy of my deed of sale for my house and lot, and receipt for mortgage payment, bank certificate (dated May from Philippines, no statement of account as I am not currently there). I am yet to request bank statement from my Bahrain bank amd credit card statement.

Given my situation, I'd like to know if there are any more documents that can prove CO that I do have intentions to leave after my 30 days visit in the US. I feel my funds aren't enough, and given that I'm a nurse, filipino, single and visitng BF, i feel these are red flags.

Will it help if he writes a letter as an assurance that he will support me for the duration of my stay? Do i need documents from his mother since we had her name on my DS160 as a sponsor? If so, what are these? Any other i should keep handy to show consulate to prove ties in the Philippines or Bahrain as i am an expat here.

I just would like to better my chances of getting the visit visa. As spending Christmas and new years here in the middle east, alone can really be quite depressing. Thanks in advance

There are NO specific documents that will provide a path to success....yes, you have three giant red flags....young/single, nurse (an occupation that draws a lot of Filipinas to the US, looking for work, since US hospitals are always looking for less expensive labor, the percentage of Filipina nurses who return to the PI is nearly 100%, and having a USC BF....what documents do you think would prove your return? Your job pays far less than one in the US, your USC BF is a huge reason to stay put, etc.

Still, for $160, you'll find out...but I would not get your hopes up nor buy airline tickets.

Again, the COs do not care why you want to GO to the US, only why you would return...and I don't see any strong reasons why you would.

His assurances, whether written, oral, notarized, etc, are worthless. Again, the CO cares little about who might provide support...if anything, his support provides a means of helping you stay, not return.

Sadly, documents in the PI are considered fraudulent from the outset, because so many people buy them in that area just a few blocks from our embassy. Tell your BF to start the K1 process...it will wind up being faster.

I am a citizen of the Philippines but applying for the visa in Bahrain. An expat for the past 10 years. I am aware of the redflags thats why i came here to ask for advice. Again, We have no plans of getting married anytime soon nor are we engaged so fiance visa is not at all concidered.

Im also aware my salary is not at par as with USnurses but fully aware jobs are hard to get by there even for US trained nurses. Bf has no job yet and plans to work overseas again as private contractor in overseas military bases so staying there isnt really a plan.

Im asking if there are any additional supporting documents that may help my case. I am aware i can be rejected. What i ask if i can better my chances

If you ha a Spouse, Children etc that you were leaving behind might help, but with PI even that is moot.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Oh and i have not bought airlines tickets. I was actually hesitant about trying to get the visa but he urged me to try and even offered to pay the fee. Hence I decided to give it a shot.

How are documents from PI considered fraudulent? This is my second country of work place, im sure somehow these countries i have worked in have their system of making sure my paper works are legitimate.

No harm trying.

You prepare the application for the Visa. You do not seem to have anything else.

I have already applied and paid the fees and scheduled for an appointment as we are pressed on time. I have listed the papers I have on hand, i was asking if there are any other suggested papers or proof that I may add to prepare for the interview. I am under no illusion that there are hard fast rules and documents that assure approval of visa. I am also aware of the red flags I have. Its unfortunate enough that theres nothing i can do about my nationality, my profession, and my age at time of application, and my bf's nationality.

So basically the message Im getting here is that, because i have a Philippine passport working overseas, i should not even sweat it and that as early as now its clear that I will get denied? And that no paperworks, nothing at all will help my case?

read their website http://bahrain.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas.html

My brother got his US visa when he was working in SG. the least you can do is try.

Is there a difference in pay between US trained nurses and foreign nurses in the the US?

the percentage of Filipina nurses who return to the PI is nearly 100%, and having a USC BF....what documents do you think would prove your return? Your job pays far less than one in the US, your USC BF is a huge reason to stay put, etc.

Again, the COs do not care why you want to GO to the US, only why you would return...and I don't see any strong reasons why you would.

Reason to leave america is, 1) i pay a mortgage property under my name, 2) my family lives in the Philippines and I see them every year, 3) I only plan to work as a nurse and staying illegaly in the US with no US RN license is me jeopardizing my future and career, 4) BF doesnt have a job and lives with his parents 5) i just renewed my contract with my hospital here and i cannot afford to be unemployed even for a month.

His assurances, whether written, oral, notarized, etc, are worthless. Again, the CO cares little about who might provide support...if anything, his support provides a means of helping you stay, not return.

I dont want to get married yet because I have so many plans with my life, so K1 visa is out of the picture. When i said letter to CO or letter of invitation was because I think what money i have on hand wont be enough to fund my 30 days travel to the states.

Im just asking for guidance.

there really is no set of documents aside from the DS-160, passport, appointment confirmation and pictures that was stated in the US embassy website. in my previous blog (https://randomengineerblog.wordpress.com/2015/09/12/9/)%C2'> that i shared here a couple of days i made a list of documents for my mom and younger brother. they used this as reference in preparation of their interview. When they got to the US embassy for their interview they were asked 4 questions & the CO didn't ask for any supporting documents. they were granted a tourist visa.

My brother & his wife who works in SG used the same list, they too were not asked for any documents and was granted a tourist visa.

What I am trying to convey is that each applicant is different and the only way to find out if the documents you have will suffice is for you to go ahead and apply for a tourist visa.
