I've got a question, the finalization of my divorce is taking about 2 weeks longer than I expected it would. The divorce process is long and drawn out here (in the bible belt) and takes over a year, and now the court has told me that even though it says 30 days their website to schedule the court date, they told me in person it was a minimum of 41 days. I had planned to travel to propose to my GF as soon as the divorce was complete, and so I scheduled it as kind of a celebration of this mess being over, but now it looks like I will be there while I'm technically still married :( If I do propose, will this turn some heads with the people that process the K1's?

I had the same issue here bud.. I had proposed to my fiancee on may 27 and divorce was finalized on june 2 although I filed the divorce since jan.. The process took about 6 months but I sent my petition in on July 7 and got approved on Sept 2 so not so sure what will the CO will say to my fiancee during the interview.

I also had papers showing that I filled for divorce since 2010 but my wife was nowhere to be found to sign it so I had to wait another 5 years without living with her in other to file for divorce again, I'm still hoping that will not be a major issue in the interview process..

I would just include a very detailed timeline. It can take up to 2 years for divorce in Canada especially if children are involved. That isn't including a mandatory 1 year separation before filing. Just be clear and concise about how things Happened.

Yes I guess you do make a valid point and it's too late for me coz my case is already at NVC now.. I also know that the seperation date is also mentioned on my divorce paper so i will make sure i will remind my fiancee to mention that to the CO if she ever get question about that subject..
