Has anyone had any experience with being placed on administrative processing after the interview (especially applies to Moscow embassy)? Our interview was easy and straightforward and it seemed like we were going to be approved, but then the CO stated that we would be in administrative processing. He said it could take anywhere from days to months to complete. After a little research, I think it is either because I am active duty military with some clearances or because of my job as a scientist in the military...probably the combination of both. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did it take a long time for them to finish the processing? Thanks in advance for any info!

I also filed the k1 visa but my fiance was denied at the interview under the section 221g. And currently its under AP. I would try contacting your local congressmans office so that they can try to contact the consulates office to get a reason for denial and to request another interview. Unfortunately, with K1 visas they do expire in 4 months. If nothing happens and it stays in AP then it will expire and you will have to re-apply. I think its better to file for the spousal visa because it doesnt expire like the K1. So sorry to hear the news. But on the bright side, it may just take a fews days for them to process the visa. Keep the checking the status daily on www.ceac.state.gov.

Best of luck to you!

The embassy can extend the petition as many times as they need to.

I disagree that they need to request another interview or that they will need to do a spousal visa.

Check this forum, there are dozens of K-1 petitions that are waiting in AP for months and their petition is not expired. The CO's power to extend the petition is explained in the FAM (Foreign Affairs Manual).
