Hello everyone,

What do you guys ask the NVC when calling and inquiring about your K1 request?

Our petition was forwarded to NVC on 9/4 from TSC and it's time for me to start bugging them. :joy:

I have seen people asking for case number, invoice number, date application was received, etc...

Also, what options to choose when calling them.

Any information would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

most of the time when you call them and after you give them the info on your case they will start telling you about your case and if you do not hear the answer to your question, you can ask them. If they do not have the info, yet they will tell you to wait a week maybe 2 . But you can call them as much as you like. when my wife case was there toward the end. I call a lot they will tell me to call next week and I will say talk you tomorrow

Can I ask, How did you know that your case has been forwarded to nvc? I got an approval on aug. 26 and when I called nvc they say they didn't receive anything as of yet. Thanks

And when you call nvc, they ask for case number, I just let them know that I don't have a case number that's why I'm calling, and then they ask for the uscis receipt and ask for the date of noa2.

When you receive your NOA2 letter it will say that your case has been forwarded to the NVC. Also, if you check your case with USCIS any time after that it will say that it has been forwarded to NVC as well.

Have you received your NOA2 letter?

Yes I received my NOA2 like two weeks ago, and when I called NVC, they say that they didn't receive anything yet.

I don't get the obsession with calling NVC, you'll get the case number both from NVC as a letter and then from the Embassy by whatever means your embassy use (for example Sweden will email you). Why not just wait?

Not sure it's an obsession and much as a desire to get the ball rolling on the final steps. Its could take weeks to receive notification from NVC and I've also heard some people didn't receive any sort of notification. By calling the NVC you can get the case number and start scheduling medicals and also some countries require it for a police certificate.

I guess some people or more eager to be with their loved ones than others.

And some people who do call NVC end up doing the medical "too early" resulting in them ending up with a very short expiration on their visa or having to redo the medical in the middle of AOS because it expires.

I was as eager as anyone else. I just didn't see the point in trying to call NVC and it worked out fine.

As someone else already mentioned the fact that sometimes the NVC never sends out a letter at all... for me it was peace of mind and being able to track the progress with the case number.

I called last night and after dialing about 30 times and being on hold for 45 minutes got a hold of a rep who proceeded to give me our case number and the date the petition was received. Our case took 12 days from being forwarded by TSC to NVC assigning us a case number.

As everyone else on these forum have suggested, every time you dial the number there's an automated message that comes on saying that due to the large number of calls they cannot get to you at this point and to call back later. Keep calling until you get in and then wait for someone to answer the phone. Good luck!

I did the CR1 visa For that visa It is better to call and get the case Numbers as you can start to do the others steps choosing an agent paying fees sending in documents sooner. As other have mention the letter will arrive late or might not arrive

For a K-1 a person could wait, as the K-1 is not process at the NVC . but then again they could schedule the medical and interview faster if they had the case number sooner
