I'm not going to go into details, but if you rescheduled would it cost you a lot of money? I think it matters how much it would cost to change the dates by a week or something. If it cannot be changed, I would still go because while what you are talking about is important and especially in a new marriage, it is not the only thing in a marriage and being together is the most important part. Are you going to have that time of the month the whole time you are there?

Well the problem isn't so much the money really, though it would cost an extra couple hundred dollars to change the flight. The problem is that I close the books each month so the first two weeks out of every month are a no go in terms of taking any vacation time. Also, my cycle has been moving....every month it's a few days early and some months it's a whole week early, so even if I moved it up a week with my luck that's when aunt flo will come.

I think I'll wait a few months since I don't leave until the summer and if I think I'll have a problem I'll have a chat with my doc and I'll just go on bc that month.

Thanks ladies!!!!!

If you wait until that month the BC will be useless. Get on it now so you can get your period regular. That way you'll be all set by the time you go. It takes a few months to play around with BC.

Yup, this is true. You'll want to have at least a couple months so you can make sure you know what will happen.

AND, since this is just girls, I'll pass along my favorite discovery that I wish I'd known about long ago: The Diva Cup. It's a silicone menstrual cup that you insert during your period: I change it every 12 hours on heavy flow days and once a day on light days. It took a while for me to get used to it -- about 4 months --- but now I love it, LOVE IT! I've only purchased a couple of packs of pantyliners in the past five years. It doesn't smell. Saves lots of packing space. Doesn't fill up landfills. Saves you tons of money and lasts for years and years. And since it sits inside you, you can be completely naked and cuddly in bed during your period. ^_^ I got it from a Canadian company online -- www.divacup.com.

Along this same line, if you aren't interested in taking hormones, try the Instead Cup. It's sort of like the Diva Cup, except it's disposable and worn like a diaphragm so you can have sex while wearing it without any "mess". I absolutely loved it, and not being able to wear them any more is the only downside I've discovered to having an IUD.

You need to sort this at least a couple of months before you are due to fly out, that will give you time to use the contraceptive pills to move your cycle to a better time for you. Talk to the doctor about it and remember to do this you need a monophasic pill to do this best. I regularly move my cycle around to tie in with visits to Richard in fact during the total of six months we have spent together I only had one period. There are new pills being offered that only cause 4 periods a year, well actually these are nothing new, just plain old pills with fewer breaks inbetween. When you take the contraceptive pill the bleeding you experience isn't a real period, it's a withdrawal bleed caused by stopping the pill. All you have to do is time when you stop.

I've never tried Nuvaring, but I can tell you that if the instead cup is inserted properly, you can't feel it. If you're interested, definitely give them a try, you can buy them at pretty much any drugstore.

Why have I never heard about this before?

I know, right? I have seen ads for the Diva Cup in magazines like Bust before, but that always seemed impractical as it's not disposable (what do you do in public?) This seems like a better solution

Here's a thing, why is it that women feel horny when they are due a period? It doesn't make much sense biologically but as I understand it, it's certainly not uncommon...

That's your body telling you last chance to conceive even though it's a very small chance your body still screams at you.

For the same reason women who are ovulating are more likely to go from no to maybe or from maybe to yes. The body wants to get pregnant.

Actually, I've heard it has more to do with increased blood flow to the area in question...

I'm on a low-dose version of a bc pill to control my hormone fluctuations (migraines). I take them for 12 weeks straight, have an off-week (and in most cases, I rarely even have any spotting) and then go right back to 12.... if the 'off-week' is inconvenient, I just keep on taking them...

But, when I started, I did have problems with breakthrough bleeding until my body got used to it, so if you want to consider bc pills for that reason, start as soon as you can....

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

It never really mattered when I visited, that man would throw my hormones so far out of balance I would start within a day of arriving (despite not due for two more weeks). We learned to not rely on the normal when together lol. Like others though, I would have still visited whether or no.
