You ladies are hilarious :)

The pill does not take 2 months to be effective... and the way to skip the "blood bath" is to not take the white 'inactive' pills, just start the next pack right away. Have fun on your trip

A depoprovera shot will cure things too.

I know - some of you probably don't like depo - but we are talking ONE shot here....

Depo does take a while to kick in on that facet.. took me till my second shot (3 months) or so, and then I still got it occasionally (maybe once or twice a year).. and then it is completely unpredictable.. For some women it makes them menstruate a lot more than normal as well... However I did like depo, since it didn't have much to remember about.. just a shot every three months..

Really? Ok didn't know that.

I never took it for birth control. I've had two of them for early 'change of life' issues. I've been given them to STOP bleeding.

I would be carefull about the BC pill though. Jonny came to visit in November and I:

  1. Wanted birth control.
  2. Wanted to keep shark week away.

I took 2 packs of pills back to back starting in early October. As we got close to November... HELLO THERE AUNT FLO! my periods are so irregular, I won't have one for years and when I finally get one... it's a long one. He was here for 10 days in November. She came late October and stayed till early December. I had forgotten about the fact that I might still get a period after the first pack of pills anyway. Didn't stop us of course, just kept a towel handy

I would say, if you are going to stack your pills (or NuvaRing, I have one now and I love it!) like that, give it longer than 2 months so your body is used to it already.

Here's a thing, why is it that women feel horny when they are due a period? It doesn't make much sense biologically but as I understand it, it's certainly not uncommon...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

If you start taking the pill, if you start it the first day of your period, it's effective as contraception immediately. If you just start it on a random day, it takes a week for the contraceptive effect to kick in.

If you're on the pill, you can skip the placebo week and just go onto the next pack. Contraceptive effectiveness is fine, and you just don't bleed that month.

I haven't found that works for me; my body gets pretty cranky if I run packs back-to-back. C. and I just deal for a couple days if the timing doesn't work out because visits usually last at least two or three weeks, so missing four days isn't a killer.
