After 5 years of marriage and getting our visa, we went to apply for SS number / he will get a 10 year green card

Woman told me IR 1 means he can not work in US and they can't give him a SS card / I did come home and printed out what the information from immigration

And although i looked it up and we checked on DS 260 for immigration to apply for it / i will take in the papers so she learns to ask this question from the next person

I just wish people knew their jobs / getting frustrated with government workers

22-Sep-2016 Letter from USCIS dated 9/20 explaining the Service Request is currently being reviewed by an officer.
22-Sep-2016 Letter from USCIS dated 9/20 with Interview appointment for both of us for 28-Sep-2016
28-Sep-2016 Interview, both of us, separated, not hard, 10 min. each, result---said hubby will get GC in about 10 days

02-Nov-2016 Card is being produced!!!
08-Nov-2016 Card is mailed
10-Nov-2016 Card is Delivered!!!! YAY
CITIZENSHIP: 

Biometrics appointment for 2020-03-27 has been cancelled until further notice as all field offices are closed because of COVID-19.

***NOA dated 12/10/2020 USCIS stated they are able to reuse previous Biometrics***

Interview was easy. My hubby's Oath Ceremony is scheduled for February 25th. I can't watch >sad< but happy he is getting his certificate!

September 2007: Met online via social networking site (MySpace); began exchanging messages.
March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

yes, I went back today with printed Immigration pages showing we should apply for SS card upon arrival and copy of marriage certificate the woman said she needed. We were waitied on by a man who looked at passport and visa, said that was all he needed and we were able to apply. He seemed to know his job. Meanwhile i heard the woman as she was talking to someone trying to change name to married name and i heard her say she had to turn in the SS card with maiden name. I have all 3 of mine Maiden name, married name to late husband and this new one. Still wondering how some people are able to keep their jobs.

I also discovered i could have applied for SS card while he was still in Morocco.
