How To Change Foreign Address

Overseas address is:

House Number, Street Number, Sangkat Chak Angre leu, Khan MeanChey, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

When we filled the form out and her G-325A we forgot to put the word "Chak". I just copy/paste what she sent over. The thing is, the locals mainly look at the House Number and Street Number, and city and know where it is. Meaning if the US Embassy sends the package to what we put on the records it'll arrive to her with no problem at all. I can even send packages to her from the US which I've done numberous times with no problem. English is not the native language nor do they use the alpha numberic system and few can understand English. Businesses even writes their addresses differently but all package arrives to them fine. On her Passport it has the word "Chak" on it.

Is this something I should be worried about? If so, how do I/we have it change before the interview date. I haven't receive my case from the NVC yet but expecting it soon. I would think of emailing the US Embassy, sending them a letter, and also have my fiance send them a letter to make that change. Or am I worrying too much? I can understand if it's a person's name to look it over carefully but do they really check and verify if the spelling on addresses matches up overseas? I want to make the corrections before the Interview date. Any advise please. Any forms I need to fill out? Any fee?

When they send you Choice of Agent packet, you can specify to have all mail deliver to you instead of Cambodia. You don't need to put the district location or area. All you need is the street number, and location number.

I highly recommend that they send you the information to your US address, that way it'll be easier with communication. I am petitioning for a k-3 VISA for my wife in Cambodia.

That's what I thought. She still have all the envolpes stamped in the US to show it got to her with no problem even from USA. While on the subject. What do you put as province? I thought you left it blank or some said "Phnom Penh" and some MeanChey. Cambodia has some confusing addresses.

I think I'll have them mail me the instructions. Didn't realize that was possible. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks again. I was agonizing over that for the past few weeks since she showed me her passport. Made another trip to get engaged in Feburary 11th. Had it on DVD, guess book, photo albums, the whole nine yards. Engagement, not marriage.

Had to do something for her parents. Since your wife is Cambodian I'm sure you know what it means to them. Couldn't take her away without doing something like that.

Her parents died when she was five years old. She lives with her older sister. I want to shed tears after hearing her life story. She has no education, no skills, nothing that will let her earn a decent living in the USA. She's beautiful, and a hard worker. She never care about herself, only others. She's a servant right now. Before I met her, her fingernails were all worn and broken. She has been doing so much physical task. She worked in a restaurant without getting paid, and she cooks food all day. Sometimes she would cook foods for two days without sleep at all. She went through so much, and she never gets mad. I love her for all the reasons above, and more.

I am pursuing two degrees, electrical and computer engineering. Two years left until I graduate. With this degree, I can secure my future for our family. She don't have to work hard anymore. Her life will be better here than over there. Plus, there's medical insurance for her here so she don't have to worry about not being able to pay for medical. Nothing is wrong with her though, but it's good to have.

The more I talk about it, the more I miss her. :luv:

I am so sorry to hear about her parents. Life in Cambodia is rough. I've heard all sorts of stories how people live and it's very dis hearting. I'm just glad we are able to give some a chance of a better future. Your wife will have a much better life here.

My fiancee is one of the luckier ones. Her family have members overseas that helps them out. They also fix phones and sell other items in front of their home. Otherwise, life would be rough. She is well educated in medical and British English. She's a full time student and helps with the family business every so often. She has a very bright future, especially here in America and I will personally see to it she succeeds. Right now I work in the networking field but once she comes over I plan on going back to school around her schudle of course and get my bachelor's degree in computer science.

Maybe I'm making a bigger deal and stressing out too much. I'll properly be like this until it's over. On the I-129F petition and on her G-325A we didn't put Phnom Penh as the Province. I thought Phnom Penh was just the city. Didn't think Cambodia had any provinces. When we receive the packet 3 should we put Phnom Penh as the Province or leave it blank so it matches the I-129F and G-325A?

Cambodia's system of province is weird. Phnom Penh is a province if you look at the Cambodian country map. But, it's also listed as a city. But, it's okay. There's only one Phnom Penh, and they labeled streets with names and numbers. All you need is just to label the street numbers. You can put the street name too, but, it's unnecessary. I know, it's weird.
