So my husband called NVC today and finally we have an interview for my daughter in October.

My question is what do they normally ask to an 8 year old? Anybody here had a recent experience can you please share it? I will not be attending her interview. I have my mom accompanying her.

Any reply is highly appreciated.

Normally they review all documents and asks any question to the parents. The Children under 14 years old, no need go to the interview, At least that the parents receive instruction that the children must be presents.

But this rules are in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic US Embassy. I dont know if is the same for your current embassy.

HI! We just had my daughters(6 years old) IR2 interview today. They didn't really ask to many question just her name, age and if she was enrolled in school and what grade. Her appointment was at 6:30 am and we were done by 8:30am.. It was pretty easy.. Good Luck!!

Any child that is immigrating must attend the interview.

Depending on the age, the questions are selected to be sure the child is the child that is on the application. So asking the child's name and age are normal questions but the answer tells the CO if indeed this is the child on the application. If the CO suspects it is not, then further questioning will follow.

You have nothing to be concerned about. The interview goes pretty fast. They already know from all the information that they have from your packet and the background checks whether they are going to pass the beneficiary or not. Seeing the person and asking a few questions will insure their decision is correct.

The visa will not be issued on the same day. Processing can take from a few days to more and no one can say for sure when it will be issued. Just a little more patience and your there.

CO asked my 4yo step-daughter if her name was Marilyn. She nodded yes and that was it. Asked my wife a couple of basic questions about me / us and out before a lot of the other interview windows were even open.
