Another, perhaps better, answer to questions about your sex life (such as "When was the last time you did it"), smile and say "Need you ask?" Say nothing more. If they press the issue, say "What's your next topic, please?"

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If they ask this or anything about your sex lives, it's highly (if not completely) inappropriate for a K-1 interview. One response is, "If you want an answer to that question, please put it in writing, in an e-mail, to me with copies to my two U.S. Senators, and include the name and e-mail address of your Section Chief. I'll be more than happy to answer questions on other subjects."

Wow, really? I only added that question because my friend had a K-1 Stokes and he was asked that. That's good information to know as we'll soon be removing conditions on my wife's green card, and if we get a Stokes, I know how to answer a personal question like that. Or can they ask that on a AoS Stokes?

The point of the interview is to establish that it is a bona fide relationship. Any question is fair game. That being said, the officer isn't really interested in the juicy details. A Stokes interview is where the two persons are interviewed separately and answers are compared. So being able to answer truthfully and consistently is important.

Keep in the mind the goal is to obtain the visa. A question about your sex life really isn't a big deal. Answer and move on. No need to escalate the situation. If an officer was to continue the line of questioning then decline and address it. There are times when a part of the interview technique is to make you uncomfortable. Then to see if your story remains the same.

Keep the big picture in mind.

Best of luck.

You will be OK. Easier said than done right? They are just human beings like yourself doing their job for pay and country. But God is above all that. Last week I was worried about my husband smoking marijuana in the past and all that comes with that when u admit. Lol and they did not even ask him a thing about it. I was praying and I fasted that day. He did not get the visa for other reasons but I give praise to the almighty still. U will be OK. Best wishes in advance for a prosperous relationship in the united States with your fiance.

I am in such a panic!! and understand now why the consular may have decided as he did. I am currently in Jamaica with my fiancé. We did some mock interviews last night. we are having some challenges with how the questions are worded. When I ask when did you plan to marry. He answers about the date we planned to marry when he comes to the US instead of when he actually proposed. I have suggested he have the consular reword if he does not completely understand. Is there a way for him to request an interview in his native tongue? or translator? Jesus Help me!

Native tongue? We speak English in the Caribbean! I think he just needs a little more practice and calm nerves. Listen it is what it will be. Just stay calm and stay positive, and encourage your fiancé to be his confident self. He probably just needs to know that you trust him to be at his best.

I meant no harm in saying Native Tongue and He speaks Patwa which is not standard English. and am not making this personal against what it is you may or may not speak. my question is about me and him not about Caribbeans as a whole. I am not implying that your right or wrong. I am saying that MY fiancé speaks patwa and his interpretations of my questions are different than the way I interpret and maybe some American Consul may interpret. Yes he may have learned English in school but his natural language is different. His "interpretation" is a little different from mine as well. I do have confidence and trust in my fiancé. It is the consular whom I do not trust as their misinterpretations can cost us dearly. Now is not the time to pick through my words and imply that I am saying anything negative against people from the Caribbean. I am simply asking if he should maybe be interviewed by someone who may have an understanding of the way he may interpret certain questions. When I ask him when is her birth day. he answers month and date where as I answer month date and year. things like that. If you are offended by what I am saying please do not respond I am simply looking for help. My son's say something to me and I interpret their slang a different way so it is not just my fiancé but the way people speak in general. Without complicating my life any further at this point I just want to say thank you for trying to help me and I may be a little nervous but in no way shape or form do I not have confidence in my fiancé or implying that Caribbean's do not know English. Just for today please just help me I don't need to hear opinions. Tomorrow I may feel differently. But today I would prefer to get answers from people who will JUST help me understand the process and help to answer my questions.

Hey! No worries! I wasn't offended at all. I'm from Trinidad. Here's the thing.... ...it's unlikely that he'll be given a translator because he speaks English, bottom line. Patwa is actually broken French and not many Caribbean countries actual speak it really. We say we speak Patwa because its an easy way to explain our accents to Americans.

The good news is that COs are schooled in local culture and mannerisms from what I heard. So they'll understand him perfectly well. COs. live there in the country so I'm sure they have tons of experience with the dialect.

I don't think it's something to be nervous about at all.

Good luck tomorrow. Everything will be fine.

I think they would word that question differently anyways.... Probably "When did you know you wanted to marry her?" or maybe I'm not understanding your question either. If asked " When did you plan to marry?" He should give the wedding date you guys plan on getting married.

From my understanding they do take into consideration the native slang that is spoken in Jamaica and attempt to make it as plain as possible. However all of the officers are American and Jamaica does not have translators because the country's native language is English. He will be fine. They will keep the questions simple enough to understand. You will be just fine! Did you review with him the questions he said they asked in the first interview? Was he able to answer those correctly?

I know someone that was initially denied and the US fiance called to get a second interview and it was granted but they interviewed together, so just pray that they will have you guys together while answering the questions.

P.S. My thinking is half the time after they have reviewed your packet sent from USCIS they have made there mind up before they call up the individual to be interviewed. They take 30 mins to an hour before they call you up to look at and study your file, So if you didn't give them much to review they don't want to make a decision based off what someone has told them as opposed to hard evidence.

Good Luck Lady! You will be fine!

I think what I was trying to say In my first post is to focus on keeping each other calm and not the stuff you can't change like the CO you'll get.

You've put a lot of effort into this. It will pay off!

You'll be in my prayers and thoughts all day tomorrow. I'm truly rooting for you both.

Yes we have gone over that and then some lol.. thanks for clearing that up. I know in my heart we will do fine. Just the nerves now that I am here as well. I am not worried at all about me because I have always been assertive plus as a woman dates are special to us :) first kiss first this first that... you know. So I just stress dates to him as well or simply he doesn't remember the exact date even our wedding plan did not have an exact date simply the month in which we expected him in the US. By the way did I mention I LOVE Jamaica!! if I could afford to move all this would be unnecessary. I will send you a message tomorrow Ashley just as soon as I am back with the WIFI lol I can not thank you enough for your words and prayers.

Yup I get that now. My apologies I am a ball of nerves!! forgive me... and thank you
