London Interview

Hi All,

Firstly I would like to thank you for such an excellent website which has proved to be a huge help in my visa journey.

I am posting as I need some advice. My case was completed and sent to the London Embassy by the NVC in early November 2006. The Embassy received it on 27th November 2006. I have still not received an interview date and calls to the Embassy have proved pointless. I have waited for more that 10 days for an email reply also.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with interview dates coming from London? Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I'm in the same boat, but have been waiting a shorter time than you. My case was completed late Nov and sent to the embassy early Dec. I have not heard a thing since. From what I gather, it's a good 8 to 12 weeks to find out about an interview. So based on this you should hear something soon.

p.s. I'm glad it's not just me that seems to be waiting a while. What annoys me is that other people seem to get replies to their emails, and some embassies actually post their interview dates online! London Embassy seems to be quite useless in providing information, at least to you and I.

Our case was received at the Embassy on Nov 13th & our interview is tomorrow. Hang in there - you should be getting your interview letter ANY day now!!

By the way, the last email I sent came back with an auto-reply stating it had been deleted without being read as they did not accept unsolicited emails???? It's very frustrating!

Hi Mark and Sissy -

Thanks for your comments. I'm glad to see that someone else is agonising over this as much as me! Though now it has actually been 13 weeks for me and I must say my patience is really wearing thin at this point! Fingers crossed that we both hear some good news soon!

Hi Rebster -

Congratulations on getting your interview date! Good luck tomorrow!

Can I ask you how long ago your received notification from the embassy of your interview date? I would imagine you must have heard at least a month ago?

I have also written to and phoned the embassy. They weren't able to tell me anything over the phone and I have still not replied to the email I wrote ten days ago. We have just bought a house in the U.S. and I need to give three months notice with my job, so even after I have my interview, it will be months before I am finally settled.

Best wishes for your interview tomorrow, Rebster! If you have a moment, I'd love to hear how it goes!

Thanks all!

David

Speak of the Devil, and it shows up. I called the Dept of State minutes after my post to you expecting them to say an interview hadn't been scheduled yet, and lo and behold one had for April the 13th...causing me to almost fall off my chair. Although I am happy to have the interview date, I remember how thin my patience was wearing not having a clue when it might be. The way I coped is by calling the Dept of State every couple of days, as it gave me a sense of control. I had also sent about three emails to the London Embassy over the past four weeks, with no response. The ONLY thing stopping me from having called the Embassy is the last letter I got from the NVC which states that I shouldn't. By the way, it looks like we don't get emails letting us know when our interview dates are...we just get a package sent out in the mail. That's another reason I called quite often to check up on things, as my mail is delivered to a shared area and I was afraid it might get lost or something. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that you hear something VERY soon, but highly recommend you call the Dept of State regularly until then as they don't mind at all (one of them said to call them as often as I like, actually). It might also spur them on in some way perhaps, especially in your case where you have waited longer than most to hear about a London interview.

Hi Mark and Sissy,

I am pleased to hear that you have a date now. I bet you are relieved.

You make reference to calling the Department of State. That sounds like a great idea as I haven't tried that. I wonder if you could tell the number or where I can find it? Is it the Department of State in the US?

Thank you so much for you helpful responses!!!

Yeah, it is a relief. Hopefully you will have your date soon too! The number to call is 202-663-1225 (US dialling code of course). Then press 1, 0, 0 and wait to get through to a person.

Woooooo Hoooo!!!!

I just called the Department of State and in a strange coincidence I just found out I too now have an interview!!!!!!! I have to say a big thank you to Mark and Sissy for the advice and the telephone number. If anyone else is waiting for an interview date I recommend that you call the number mentioned by Mark and Sissy as you are far more likely to have luck.

I can now look forward to my interview on the 3rd April 2007.

Thanks Again everyone for all of your help!!

David

That is GREAT news! You deserve it after such a long and painstaking wait.

p.s. if you'd like to, you can now book your medical by referring to http://www.visamedicals.info/. You just need to have received packet 4 by that time as they require a couple of things from it. I decided to do this because I could, and it enabled me to get a date and time of pretty much my choosing.
