Affidavit of Support: Form I-134

Hi ... I started my own business last year and as such, showed a loss at the end of the financial year. My husband is willing to co-sponsor my son's paperwork, but am not sure how to go about this.

Must we obtain authorisation for him to co-sponsor, does the form change, or do we just complete the I-134 and attach jointly filed tax returns?

Thanks!

How is the son being petitioned, via an I-130 for an immigrant visa? You do not use an I-134. You will use an I-864. Your husband can provide an I-864A to go along with your I-864 and combine your incomes to meet the requirement.

Conflicting information is making this way more difficult than it needs to be! I am so thankful to have this forum to turn to.

Can someone please advise:

I received the welcome letter, appointed myself as my son's agent (F1 visa from South Africa to USA) and paid the AOS fee. After 2 weeks, other instructions were discovered, so began work on completing the Affidavit of Support (no invoice received for IV fees). Am I following the correct procedure?

As you will see from above, I-186 and I-186A required.

Document cover sheet received with initial e-mail is calling for some paperwork that I am unsure of (not being familiar with them).

- Do we need to supply an IRS Tax Transcript if supplying 3 years of tax returns and recent W2's?

- Proof of Relationship is covered by birth and marriage certificates further down - or is there something else required here?

- Petitioner Documents - what are these?

- Photocopy of valid passport - I have attached a copy of both my son's, as well as my own (also covers Proof of US Status), but then

- Photographs - I have no reliable means of obtaining recent passport photos of my son. Can these be marked 'unavailable' and be supplied at his interview?

- Police Certificates - He applied for this certificate, but I am unsure how long it will take to get. Can I submit paperwork without this document/can it be supplied at his interview?

Mail in and out of South Africa is very unreliable. If it's received it can take at least 6 weeks to arrive. I am nervous to send my originals - even via courier. Is it imperative for my son to have all my original documents for his interview?

Thank you!
