hi from Philippines just wanna ask something about my grandmother... she is naturalized us citizen.. she went back here last Nov 2014.. my aunt who is in the us doesnt want her to get back in the us because she is old and they dont want to take care of her... but my grandmother wants to go back in the us.. she find it hard living here because of the weather.. and she got sick.. but my aunt refuse her and they told that they surrender the citizenship of my grandmother? and she can't no longer enter to USA.. her visa will expired on DEC 2015.. and she plan to go back in the us before her visa expired and she going to live with a friend

.. my question is is that true that anyone can surrender the citizenship without the permission of the said person.. my grandmother is still using her us citizen passport.. we just want to be sure that if she's going to the us , immigration will not hold her as my aunt told us.. I think they just telling that because they dont want her to get back in us.. any help ? and where can i check the status of my grandmother if she still us citizen... thanks

hi

of course not, she just doesn't want to take care of her, which is sad because it's her mom right? or is it her mother in law?

she can come to the US if she wants to, but where will she go and how will she live if her daughter won't take her back?

or if is says yes, she'll probably end up in a home for elderly people

she can stay out of the US or live anywhere she wants, to there is no time frame like a GC to be out of the US, unless she does something illegal, she can live out of the US or return when she wants to

does she have anywhere to go if she decides to return? because she can't force her daughter to take care of her

Only your grandmother can renounce her citizenship, no one else can.

What do you mean her visa expires? If she is a citizenship than she no longer has a visa, all she needs is her US passport to travel.

Your Grandma is a US citizen. Only she can surrender her US citizenship. Your aunt is lying.

Your aunt is lying.

She doesn't need a visa, she has a US passport.
