Hi

I am the petitioner and I'm trying to get a copy of my tax transcript to send to my fiancee to take to her interview at the embassy. I tried to get a printed copy on the IRS website, but the Online Transcript service is unavailable. Every time I try to get a copy through the IRS, I am sent a letter that says "We are unable to process your request." It sends me a number through the Identity Protection Specialized Unit and tells me to call them. When I call them, it sends me through an automated phone system, and I select an option that says they will mail me my previous years tax transcript. Then I am sent the same letter. Over and over again. Has anyone gone through this? Does anyone know how I can get an easier copy of my transcript?

Did you provide an Identity Protection PIN on your last return? http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/The-Identity-Protection-PIN-IP-PIN

It sounds like you may need the PIN to get the transcripts. When you call the number provided, do you get an actual person or just the automated ordering system? You may need to speak to an actual person and ask about the IP PIN, if your return included one.

You can try to go in person to an IRS office, or use this form by mail > http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf

I was proactive and got my transcript early before the site stopped working. Can't you still just provide your return? Did you efile/have an accountant do it and have a record of your return?

Thanks for your replies. I am currently on hold to the IRS and have been for 2 hours! Still no closer to speaking to someone human.

Are there any other proof of earnings I can use instead of a tax transcript? I have a W-2, statement of earnings from my employer, I can get a further letter from HR showing my income or even bank statements showing all my deposits from my employer for the past year?

The automated phone order thing used to require sending the transcript to the exact address on the return that was filed. Did she move perhaps or file her return using an address different from the one where she is requesting the transcript be mailed?

For a London K1 interview, you don't have to have a transcript or tax return at all, so no rush for that. An employer letter will satisfy London. But you will want to get one for AOS. You can order using the paper form which allows you to put the current address and the address on the return (if that is the problem). The paper form can be mailed or faxed. The fax numbers are on the second page.

Form http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf

She wants-- 6a. return transcript

She can order three years on one form.

Edit--I answered as if you were beneficiary. Sorry.

I'm still in the process awaiting interview but yeah I think they just want to know you wont be a public charge and get on social services, and they can leverage someone if the beneficiary does. All those other sources and just a copy of your return to. The transcript isn't really much more than your return, just a pithy version of it. Personally I did that, bank statements, I think they also maybe interested in payments for fraud, say you have been getting large payments or will be if not legit. Basically the two reasons i think for the requests. W2, HR verification, bank statements showing consistent balance...etc and tax return saying you are able to support finance....at least thats what I'm hoping as thats what I've provided.

Not sure how soon the interview is or how fast you need this... but if they are indeed requiring an actual IRS transcript and you still weren't able to resolve this, send me a msg and I can try and help you.

I repeat...For a LONDON K1 interview, she does not need a transcript or tax return.

Not a requirement. 1000% positive she can be approved with no tax info.

They have approved many with only an employer letter which seems to be their favorite. London is very easy and flexible with the I-134. There is no urgency to get a transcript right now.
