I know I saw this here before but now I cant find the information anywhere. Basically we will be filing directly with the consulate in Mexico City(DCF). I am a US citizen living in Mexico with my Mexican husband. I remember reading that if you are filing outside of the US and your documents are in the language spoken in the country you are filing in then translations ARE NOT NECESSARY. Is this still the case?? We are going to send the first packet in with marriage and birth certificates in spanish. Since we are filing with the embassy in Mexico City a translation isnt required correct?

Actually just tracked down the link. And translations are NOT needed in my case.

I translated the documents for filing the I-130 and it was not necessary that time or at the interview.

I am happy you started the process. We had such a wonderful experience doing the DCF. It could have taken just two months for us to get the immigrant visa, but we decided to postpone it a few months.

Good luck with everything.

Ha, we just followed that translation rule and translated all of our Spanish documents into English. Then was wondering about this since the USCIS has a Spanish speaking telephone line.

Our interviews were held at the St. Paul office, had problems understanding several interviewers because they were Asian of Afican and could barely speak English. You can do your own translations, we did.
