All,

I've noticed that a number of people have mentioned calling the NVC or e-mailing the NVC to get the embassy-specific tracking number. (For us it will be a "KEV" number).

From the Kiev Embassy web site, it indicates that:

"...NVC will send a courtesy notification letter to the petitioner advising him or her that the petition has been received and that it will be sent to Embassy Kyiv."

Can I simply wait for this letter to arrive with the "KEV" number, or is it so slow that it's better to call or e-mail the NVC?

Greg.

I would suggest calling. I got my NVC letter about the same time the petition was at the embassy. Once you have this number, you can track it on ceac.gov.

Their number is (603) 334-0700 Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight EST, excluding holidays.

Check out the pinned topics in on this forum to get the phone tree (which buttons to push):

Getting through can take an hour or so.
