My wife had her physical today and her main comment was that she spent more time waiting then the actual exam. Arrived 730 and there Til 1030. Drop appt letter and yellow sheet from Quarantne service stating they ran out of vaccination Til middle of Oct.

Stripped down to underwear - dr was male and female nurse was present.

Medical history taken

Eye exam

Height/Weight

Listen heart/Lungs

Blood sample

Urine sample

Then they say her sealed medical packet will be ready before 4pm. No comment on Quarantine service running out of vaccinations so I tend to think this happens all the time and not an issue.

Hello cyclone27,

They also check eye sight? I am near sighted. If they check eye sight, I think I should wear eye glasses.

I have only received package 3 letter through email. Is package 3 letter good to bring to medical exam?

Thanks very much to you and all other people here.

Check eyes for sure.

I think they need the appt letter(p4) before you can schedule medical exam.

Since you're a K1 Visa, you will need to bring a copy of the Appointment Confirmation page and the Packet 3 letter to the medical exam. The confirmation page can be printed from the ustraveldocs.com website when you schedule your interview appointment.

See this K1 Instructions for more info, especially Step 4:

My wife just had the medical exam at Cho Ray. It was not that crowded. The staff and doctors were nice. The whole process took 2.5 hours and we got our results back the next day.

Vaccinations are done at the Quarantine Service not at the medical. Wife went there and could only get MMR the rest was out of stock Til mid October.

Thats what my wife did. Get all her shots and medical exam. It doesnt show any shots were given on the shot record and I was wondering about that. She would just get them in the states?

I get the impression you can get them in US. However might be cheaper in Vietnam depending on your health insurance.

Just MMR - depends when she leaves might go back to quarantine service and get the rest or get in the US when she comes. It seems they were not too concerned if they don't have all the vaccinations prior and I tend to think they run out vaccinations all the time.

So the lack of vaccines didn't affect the result of your interview right?

and I'm still a bit confused that your wife went for health exam,

then the examiner asked to go to get vaccines and then came back with the yellow sheet.

and they put everything together in a sealed envelope, am I right?

Can you get the vaccines before go to health check?

Yes - you can go get vaccines prior to medical exam. I think reason they do exam before is to interview and determine what you had prior by proof of vaccination. In my case wife hadn't any proof so she needs to have them all.

Funny enough you can just do vaccinations in USA though depending in what your health insurance covers might be cheaper in Vietnam or more convenient.
