Does Indian born Canadian Citizen needs police clearance from India for K1 visa?

Hello all,


Is there anyone out there who has applied for a K1 visa, is a Canadian citizen, was born in India and lived in India until age 16 or longer?


My question is whether or not I need to obtain a police clearance certificate from India. According to travel.state.gov, "Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants residing outside India."


I relinquished my Indian citizenship when I became a Canadian citizen.
