last ditch attempt at saving my Monday flight without my passport

Ok, so my visa is still at the US embassy in London and is still in the 'ready' phase and my plane leaves on Monday for Vancouver and it's looking 99.99% likely that I won't be able to travel.

Just wondering if anyone has ANY ideas as to how I can somehow magically sidestep losing this £1000 flight (non refundable)?

Annoying because I don't even need a visa to go to Vancouver, just my passport.

I had the thought that if I somehow could make it to Vancouver that my visa could be forwarded to me there, but I'm guessing that it would need to be signed for by my, in person, in the UK? and not just delivered to me.

Just stabbing in the dark here as I'm pretty desperate.

The visa is stuck into a page in your passport - so you can't have the visa forwarded to you as you will not have your passport to be able to travel.

Even if the flight is non-refundable, you may be able to transfer to to a later date for a fee.

The flight was supposed to be for a visit to Canada for two weeks but various plans got changed and so I figured that I'd use the date for the actual move and that my visa would have processed by now but I've hit every possible delay along the way.

I could change the dates but I still have no idea when the visa will be ready.

The visa won't be delivered on time. It needs to be sent out tomorrow which is sort of in the realms of small lottery win.

You just have to predict when you might have it. Have you checked how long others from your country has had to wait? Either you can make a gamble and look at how long they have been waiting and add about a week or play it safe and book a trip at least a month from now.

Either way you put yourself in quite a mess making non refundable travel plans without visa in hand. And no, you can't travel without a passport, that only works for domestic flights and flights within the EU with proper ID.
