Hello, I just had a question when you fill out Part 5, Sponsor's household size. In part A, it asks to enter the person you are sponsoring in the affidavit, which would be my fiancee (1). But then in part C, it says, if you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse. Since we're not supposed to count anyone twice, do I just put a 0 in part C, even though I am married? Or a 0 in part A? How did others fill this section out, I'm curious to know. Thanks.

So when they ask are you currently married, they are not referring to your spouse who came on the K-1 visa? They mean a previous spouse? Just want to make sure.

I am sorry that I confused you.... I re-read your first post and now I understand what you were asking.

Your current spouse (which was your fiance when you applied for the K-1 Visa) is the person you are sponsoring, AND your spouse. So, you will have to include her as the person you are sponsoring, and put her down as "1" for being your spouse.

But the specifications say not to count anyone twice. So how can I count her twice in the section, as the person I'm sponsoring and my current spouse. At the bottom, I have to add all the lines together, so if I put "1" down twice, it will count her 2 times. You see what I mean... thats why I'm confused.

Reread my answer.

So if I put a "0" where it says if I'm currently married, that won't cause any problems down the road, even though I am married? Wouldn't I be misleading them by putting a "O" where it states if I'm currently married.

You are planning on including your marriage certificate, aren't you?

And filing as a ©9?

Do as rebeccajo says.... put a "1" as the person you are sponsoring. Put nothing in the current spouse area.

I think they are asking for your current spouse to be included IF (and only IF) that spouse is NOT the person you are sponsoring. For instance, someone could be sponsoring their parent, so for that parent, you would put "1" as the person you are sponsoring, AND you would put "1" for your spouse if you were currently married. That way, the total number of people in your household would be correct. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

Yes, I understand now, looking at it as if I was sponsoring someone else besides my spouse (as you mentioned, a parent). Got it. Thanks for the clarification, appreciate it.
